For anyone wondering if this is worth the price, yes it is. I have a different brand but also IPS Gsync 100Hz+. I've had TN and QHD panels and the colors on the IPS are just more... vibrant and accurate. The contrast is better too. I would have to spend hours configuring the TN and QHD Nvidia settings to get the colors where I wanted them. With the IPS panel I didn't need to mess around with the display settings at all.
I can second this. I just bought at dell for 1k and got it a few days ago. I have had every type of monitor under the sun and finally splurged on this one. I do not regret it one iota. It is absolutely the best monitor I've ever owned. I went from a 32 inch LG VA panel with the same specs (gsync, 144hz, 1ms response etc) and it was like going from SD to HD for the first time. Just incredible.

I just don't know that I could justify the price being worth the performance, but I haven't owned either monitor I'm interested in. Effective price of the 3418 is about 600, effective price of this 3420 unit being about 930. these are both after taxes for me.

Does anyone have experience going from a monitor like a Dell UltraSharp U2412M to this? It's an older monitor but I do a lot of graphic work and I've never seen one with a better picture. I've wanted something that can go above 60fps for years but all the monitors I've tried I end up returning after a couple days because I just find their appearance to be lacking.

Isn't buying this a better option?

The LG 34GK950F-B is not even on sale and is $799 and just seems to be a superior monitor all around? Am I missing something?
This is a 1080p monitor as compared to OP's 1440p. The difference in resolution is very noticeable.

the 950's aren't 1080p, that's incorrect. 950's are 3440x1440.

I have the older monitor sitting in my cart trying to figure this out right now too. Can anyone comment? That's a big difference in price right there, especially since these are already overpriced compared to Freesync models.

I'm also going to have to return the older Alienware model from the google shopping deal a few days ago which ended up being a whole lot more than this.

Get the older model. It's still a excellent monitor. If you're going to spend $900+ then wait for the 4K 144hz to come down in price. Dell gives you a 3 year 24hour replacement warranty on it. I didn't have to pay extra or anything when I bought it last year from Dell.

It says it right on the the Google page that it's 1080p (if you look at what I replied to).
