AMD ryzen 7 3800X = $329.99 from B&H
MSI MPG X570 = $199.99 from B&H
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 = $99.99 from Amazon
Total: $629.97

So if you're looking for these exact parts, then yes, it's about $100 off normal price ignoring the free software and game pass, which really have no real value in the grand scheme of building a computer.

With that being said, you will get a lot better thermal numbers from the X570 Aurus Elite (top of the line for this processor in my opinion) and it's honestly cheaper than the MSI MPG. It generates

https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145160 <- better motherboard, cheaper motherboard, no wifi. The wifi version is over 200 bucks. Best thermal numbers in it's class. Normally $210, on sale for $169.99, MIB for $20 takes it to $149.99

https://slickdeals.net/f/13511566-1tb-samsung-970-evo-plus-pcie-nvme-m-2-solid-state-drive-200-500-gb-100 <- You can also get the 1 TB version of the 970 Evo Plus for $99.99

So 1 TB SSD, A lot better mother board is $250. This leaves you $264 to spend on a processor. You can get the 3700X for $299.99 or spend $330 on the 3800X for minimal gains.

Grand total is between 550 to 580.

So 10% price difference for twice the SSD size, two times better thermal levels.

Thumbs down.

This is cheap because the MSI motherboard is one of the worst motherboards you can possibly buy.

Horrible thermals and horrible longevity.

If you look up steaming pile of elephant crap in the dictionary this is the Amazon bundle they will reference.

Anyone have any thoughts on this deal? It seems pretty slick to me

Does anyone have recommendations on video card or case to go with this build?

This is a huge price. I'd only recommend this for someone who was looking to buy these exact or very similar components in the near future.

cpu's been on sale for $330 (all the game freebies are part of the cpu purchase, they are not extras in this bundle)
in my view a 500gb 970 evo+ is worth probably 60, 75 tops. (faster drives 1tb in size have been on sale for $100)
Now what is left is a significantly overpriced motherboard at a "discount." (all x570's are stupidly expensive right now.)

The "malware" installed by AMD is just to verify you have the correct CPU or GPU installed for the promotion. I've run countless scans on it, there is no malware.
