For those trying to get a Switch deal locally.
I was visiting this new thrift/used goods store today.
I asked the employee - he said many were Japanese imports in new/like new condition from their Japan chain.

Nintendo doesn't lock it's cartridges to any region, but they officially say ymmv.
That said, no warranty since they're not USA models.
You can check their second shop nearby in Fountain Valley, too.

No warranty assumed from the condition stated.
There's many valid reasons to buy this for the right gamer.
$40 off is the same as a $18,000 car sold by rental companies after a year for $15,000. It's a good deal for those looking for a savings you can't get from Nintendo.
As for the warranty issue, get a credit card that covers purchased goods.
And gamers will buy a 1st generation PS3, even an Atari 2600, at prices out of line with regular depreciation despite those systems greater chance of failure with no warranty. Why? They accept with any used system, it's a possibility just like a used car. But in general, Nintendo systems are more reliable of the consoles.
Region isn't likely a big issue based on the linked Nintendo statement, and Japanese clearly in the title indicates to buyers immediately this fact.
(Which some gamers line because they want to play games in their original language - much like how some play Japanese metal gear or final fantasy on Japanese PlayStations.)
