Better hope those laptops have Thunderbolt 3. Also might be worth waiting for the 5500XT releases. Rumor is December 12 or 13th and may replace this card or at least move prices around on these old models.

Would this be good for my sons gaming? I just got them all laptops with a egpu. Is this powerful enough to run GTA5 plus all those racing games. Thank you

Assuming you plan to install it in a desktop computer, it should play GTA5 and other games at 1080p with ease.

Just so you know, you can't put a desktop graphics card in a laptop. Unless you mean for a desktop.
eGPU means external graphics card, unless he/she actually means iGPU.

Depends on what settings you play at and what kind of expectations you have.

At stock it will struggle to maintain 30 fps at ultra/maxed settings at 4k for the majority of modern AAA titles. If you dial the settings down coupled with a good OC, you should then see higher than 30 fps in most AAAs at 4k.

Scroll down a bit and enter the game and your hardware. I found it very helpful with my build.
