It's been like a dollar lower on Amazon once. This is about as low as I've seen the 1TB go. If you have a PCIe4.0 board, this is one of the first drives for that spec. Speeds of up to 5000mb/s Reads and 4400mb/s writes. (Samsung has yet to release theirs, due sometime Q2 2020. Will likely be a lot more expensive).

This also should include a 5 year manufacturer warranty if the new tech starts bugging out. So far so good though, people like it.

My total was about $165 after taxes.

EDIT - Should have added the other two sizes instead of the one I was stoked about.

500GB for $89.99 [after $10 off with code SABRENT5CM ]

I wonder why there are virtually no professional reviews for the gen 4 Rockets?

Not sure why either. I looked into these earlier today and they seem well built. I ended up going with the 500gb with $10 off for $90. These are made with the same controller and nand brand as all other similar nvme 4.0 drives. So I took the chance and most likely it will hold up for a while. Heres a breakdown with the NVMEs and what is on each. https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...edit#gid=0

Seems there are only 2 concerns:

1) that it runs rather hot and needs some form of heatsink, such as the ones that come with some motherboards.

2) that there will be better/faster NVME drives coming out next year (such as ones by Samsung) that will use up more of the 4.0 bandwidth.

Anyways, i took a gamble and bought the 1 TB since i didn't want to wait for something better to come along which will likely be more expensive.

I can get 970 evo plus for same price so still can't decide whether to take the more reliable brand or take the faster speeds. sigh.

Does having an NVME help with loading assets in large open world games like Witcher 3 and GTA V compared to a regular HDD?

I "think" im going to get the Samsung because people are already talking about pcie 5 coming out soon, so in a way I'd rather get the more known and stable ones for now. the pcie 4 is still tempting, though, because I have a good x570 mobo that can handle THREE pcie 4 ssds at once, but oh well will likely do 3 pcie 3 ones instead and even then I have gone overboard because most say don't get anything above sata ssds.

MSI MEG X570 ACE? If so, what are your thoughts? Been looking at it daily for about two weeks now haha

yes that is the one I got, but I haven't built yet (or built ever, for that matter). What's funny is originally I was going to use a $120 b450 so it sucks I spent so much more. I got it for $350 and then the $50 rebate they had at the time, but I had to pay tax on the $350, so all told I was out $330 which is so much for a mobo!

But anyway I got it because I wanted the front usb type c and also it supposedly stays cooler than the pro carbon. And I chose msi because of the chipset fan being able to stay totally off below certain temps. So anyway I can't say yet how it will do, but that is why I bought it, anyway. Then I later noticed the 3 ssds could run on it. lol.

If the gigabyte aorus master had been the same price I MAY have chosen that, but it was like $370 with no rebates at the time.

siiiiigh so much for me ordering the evo plus today. I had a $50 off at dell and it SHOWS it as $200, but when you go to add it, it's really up to $220 like other sites have it, so I'd rather wait and hope for a better deal because once paying tax, even with the $50 off it would be almost $200.

supposedly nvme isn't much better than sata ssds for things like that.

I would t count on pcie4 drives to be overall faster . Here's techspots review and quote from the conclusion.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www....cie-3-ssd/

"The three PCIe 4.0 drives were close in most tests with the Sabrent Rocket 4 winning by a slim margin. The Samsung 970 Pro still performs very well and even won in our game launch tests. This makes it clear that there isn't much of an advantage to getting a Gen 4 SSD if you already have a fast Gen 3 SSD. Compared to more of the mainstream, commodity Gen 3 drives, the Gen 4 drives will give you a performance boost in very select workloads."

The pcie 4 ones probably do a lot better when moving large files, though. I don't remember how large is large or really know offhand how often I'd do it, though. All I know is I am annoyed everyone went back up on the 970 evo plus right when I was about to buy it with a $50 of coupon. Since they went up I didn't buy and am hoping another good deal comes along. I maybe should have just given in to their $20 increase trick where I can build now, though.

No. Load screens may be a second or two shorter.
