I bought a 23" monitor for $85 and a fire stick for $20 for use as a digital frame. Bonus is you can drag it around the house as a second TV for games. Use it for red zone while watching our game on regular TV.

That's fine for you...not for my 75 year old parents with 4 children and 9 grandchildren. I set the Nixplay up for them two years ago and have never had to touch it. 600+ pictures later, everyone loves the nixplay.

There is a previous version of the display which has somewhere around 2,500 reviews on Amazon

Thanks! Canceled my 13 inch from yesterday's deal and got two of these instead!

To head off some responses, here was my comment on the last thread:
I have both. An old nixplay and an Android tablet turned photo frame.

I like how the nixplay just works. I can have different playlists and swap them easily depending on the visitor (parents like to see the grand child photos more). The motion detection makes it a great night light when getting up in the middle of the night. Likewise with coming home in the middle of the night.

The Android picture frame (CyanogenMod Amazon tab in daydream mode) worked but a lot of useless notifications, freezes up and needs a restart, harder to upload pictures (didn't want to link it to my Google photos cause didn't want to sign into an actual account on it in case it got stolen or if someone wanted to play on it). I ended up reconfiguring the Android tablet as a weather station and automatic video doorbell when there is a Ring notification. Granted the Amazon tablet was a lot cheaper but wasn't worth the time having to constantly keep an eye on it in case it failed. I even bought a more up to date Lenovo tablet as another possible picture frame but ended up using it as a second weather station and video doorbell for a different part of the house.

Note the shipping dates if this is intended for a Christmas present. The delivery range they gave me included dates that were past Christmas.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to load photos onto this frame directly via USB or SD card - only via Wi-Fi. I haven't researched whether you can upload directly using only local network or if everything has to go through a server in the cloud.

Something to think about, having experience with frames given to family that can no longer be updated remotely due to server shutdown.
