If you buy a Plex life time pass you can get free DVR. Service it records to your Plex server. It's a great service and works great

If you don't want to use a server, you can buy an add on HD module you can record to it w/o having a server going 24/7. That would require a subscription though.

I have the Plex Pass and this tuner. Absoultely LOVE the service and the 4 tuners works flawlessly (just need to make sure you have good antenna signal strength). Between my locals OTA and Netflix, I am set. Get the tuner-- you won't regret it.

This one doesn't support H264 transcodin though, correct? I'm running on Synology NAS so don't want it to always be converting.

Correct, you need the extend, which is also on sale, albeit, still more expensive than this model. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...xtend.html Note, it only has 2 tuners.

Yeah, I'm planning to just run through Plex so not sure if need more than 2 tuners. The transcode makes a difference when trying to play the channels or only if I'm recording and trying to playback at a later time?

$99-$99.99 has been standard sale price over the past 12 months. I know, because I've been stalking this product until a better version with 3-4 tuners that transcodes come out.

Any advantage of this as compared to Tablo Quad OTA DVR (total cost = $160 + $150 lifetime guide subscription)?

Picked one up for $75 from SD about 2 months ago. Got the Plex pass for $75 about 2 months ago. Got the Servio that records up to 300 hours of HD video for $150. I could not get a deal on that. As a matter of fact, it is almost impossible to find it in stock anywhere. B&H always had it out of stock. It is time to get rid of TIVO which I love and stop giving Comcast another $7 a month for their cable card. Yes, I just paid $300 to get rid of a $7 expense. Worth it to me just to pay Comcast less. When I am done with our contract, goodbye Crapcast. I am getting 2 additional tuners and almost unlimited storage onto other hard drives.

What do you pay for the internet alone? I assume you have internet because you get Netflix. Here in Lancaster PA it is $90 a month for 300mbps service.

Does anyone else have internet only stand-alone service? Where are you located, who are you with and how much is it? $90 is a Comcast outrage but they won't break up Comcast because of all the graft they give to the politicians. Crime-Ridden America Starts with our Politicians' corruption. I can't wait for 5G to get rid of Comcast completely. Applause

Looks like you can add the Extend to the HDHomerun you already own and have more tuners.

Website says "Use additional HDHomeRun tuners for additional simultaneous TV access"

Has anyone done this? I have a Duo and thinking of buying this Extend to add two additional tuners and transcoding.

Do they still only have the one model that works with a cable card? Would like to record all of my Westerns shows and run it through a Plex Server or something of that nature. That way, I can leave the regular DVR storage to everyone else in the house lol
