OnePlus 7t Pro McLaren for $899 + tax.. don't know why you'd do this over the OnePlus 7Pro that's on sale for $550 right now

That's like asking why someone would buy a Lexus when they can get a Toyota for so much cheaper. The McLaren has 5G support. The 7 Pro does not. Is 5G worth $350 is an entirely different question.

Lexus and Toyota have entirely different internals. There's literally no difference with these two phones with the exception of 5G capability in the McLaren.
Lexus and Toyota are the same cars for the most part. Different skin on the outside and some trim on the inside. Chassis, and drive train are the same with exception of a few specific vehicles.

As I stated in my prior response you would be paying a $350 premium for 5G support. For some that may be worthwhile.

The OnePlus deal is great if you are coming from a different carrier and have the trade-in, but I guess I will have to wait 6 or so months for the inevitable OnePlus 8 series. Betting on a lower-priced 5G option that won't be slacking on the other specs.

Thankfully PR seems to have 5g coverage almost everywhere that matters.
