The 1080p model is a good deal, but can the same be said for the 1440p? I get that it's bigger, but that's nearly a $300 price difference

Within that category I believe the price is good.
Meaning other 34/1440.
The size and resolution buffs are pricey!

In for the 29". Total after NYC tax came to $168.75. Thanks!

Love the super-wide screen, for productivity, some casual gaming and 3D CAD work.

Shame that the multi-monitor mode needs software that's only available for Windows or Mac (I would hook up Linux and a Chromebook). Seems like a step back from the earlier hardware mode. Anyway, this will definitely let me put far more terminals etc next to each other!

Also, the 29" doesn't have a height-adjustable stand. Shouldn't be an issue in my setup, but might be a show-stopper for some.

Damn I saw 150 and that 2k ultrawide and nearly lost it. Then I come here and see it selling for 150 more than the 34UM88C-P sold for a month ago. Pretty much identical. Not worth. As someone who already owns one, I can't imagine going with an ultrawide that isn't 2k under 32 inches (effectively a 27 inch screen).

Monitors are dumb expensive when you go beyond 1080p. You're honestly better off buying a 4k tv and putting it on game mode, if you want the best bang for your $$$.

Also, the jump from 1080 to 1440p is barely relevant on such a small screen that you're less than a foot away from

Kind of sad that neither 29UM59A-P nor 29UM69G have all the nice things I need. One is lacking a DisplayPort and the other lacking 8-bit color. I guess I'll wait.

I recently purchased the 34UC88-B for $499 from a different retailer. It's my first ultrawide ips monitor. I wanted something to immerse myself in while playing story driven games. I usually play competitive games on console with friends. If you don't mind 60hz and want something with a focus on productivity, then I would recommend it. If you play competitive games, then go with something else. 144hz or higher

I currently have the HP 27es , based on your comment, probably not worth upgrading to this?
