Dogs have a natural instinct to be in a den. Having a crate can help to create a safe environment for them to live in. My dog knows that her crate is her home, I leave it open most of the time and she goes there to sleep at night. It is a good thing to use when moving them too. If you bring her somewhere else and bring the crate with you, she would still feel at home even though she is away. Crate should be a positive reinforcement tool rather than a punishment. I am using it more frequently since my dog is sick and I want her to rest, keeping her in there is good for that

You nailed it!! After a yr or so depending on the dog, crate goes away & no chewed couches or wood work. Until 8-15 yrs later when you have to start overMad
