This is good advice. I get the championship decks every year. Online is the way to play. Kids love the cards, bend them to crap and ruin any value. If you just love the cards get the good ones on eBay. You won't beat the house with value.

Saying all of that, I got two sets for my twins to open on Christmas morning because I'm a sucker, sucker.
It's fun to scratch that itch sometimes. Shiny Charizard lottery is real so my brother got each kid a Hidden Fates tin when they were $9.99 this weekend.

Ok thanks!! He's got a bunch of cards already, and I've gotten him some of the smaller individual packs (like baseball card style packages) for his birthday...I just wasn't sure if these were in the same vein/could be added to his existing collection or if they were something completely different. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/smile.gif
You should get him something like an Elite Trainer Box or a theme deck to play the game to start. That should give him enough Pokemon cards of a particular type to run a working deck, as well as enough energy and trainer cards. These are a good supplement, or if you have opened enough booster packs, these will work fine, but with Pokemon, you really want to limit the different types you use in a deck, usually to 1 or 2 types (for example, water and grass Pokemon, or fire and psychic Pokemon, or just fire Pokemon) and this will give you a pretty big variety, which probably won't be enough to make a complete deck on its own.

Best deal in town. I hope your brother has responsible kids who will take care of their Pokemon, because IMO Hidden Fates is more of a collectors set than a kids set. These are actually perfect for a kid because they're cheap and not particularly valuable. More than Hidden Fates.

Maybe buy them some penny sleeves and deck protector sleeves for Christmas, to keep their most valuable cards in good condition?

Ok cool; thanks for the idea on the Elite Trainer Box & also for the background info! Much appreciated!!

In for 2 sets, perfect for Xmas for my kids who love Pokemon. They probably have already had all of these boxes from clearance at Wal-Mart but they will still enjoy opening all the packs. Thanks!

Did anyone get their orders from in store pick up? Mine just sat at "preparing for pick up" all day.

I am going to pick mine up in a bit, but I did get the "order is ready for pickup" email. Did you try calling them?

Called earlier and they said they had a LOT of online orders yesterday and didn't get time to process them all but that they are working on them today. So I am crossing my fingers that they will have my order.

I just picked mine up, the store by me is keeping them in the back for whatever reason, they had none out (same last night when I tried to buy in person) but sounded like they had a bunch

Are they $19.99 in store?
Online it looks like the deal is dead and I'm not seeing availability for pickup.
