GameStop has a promo for $50 extra trade in credit for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch consoles until 12/21. This is a pretty good value if you want to change/upgrade consoles especially with current Xbox One bundles available for $250-350 with a game included.

Sample values with $50 bonus included:
  • PS4 original 500GB - $160
  • PS4 slim 500GB - $190
  • Xbox One original 500GB - $125
  • Xbox One S 1TB - $150
  • Nintendo Switch original - $200 >Now $175
Weekly Ad [bigcontent.io] (offer is on page 12)

Edit: (12/14) The offer is shown again in next week's ad so it's available until 12/21. Xbox One consoles are on sale.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

This store isn't long for this earth. If you get credit use it quickly...

Note that if attempting to use store credit online for a gift card, even xbox/ps, it will return a rather meaningless error and delete your entire cart. There is no clear policy on trade-in credit online or that was stated in store, but I was able to use it in store for a gaming card. Store credit does not work for netflix or amazon cards in store. This was news to me, so buyer beware.

I have both. I like the S a lot better because it looks better and takes up less space. Uses less energy too so would probably save you money on electricity in the long run.
I just really want a 4K blu ray player but that other stuff is nice too.

Not sure if this is worth it for xbox one 500GB. Trade in value of 125, while a new xbox one S is 200. Is it worth the $75 premium for the S?
One S has 4K BluRay player and 1TB. You can also get Star Wars Jedi, NBA2K20, or Gears 5 included for the $200 if those bundles are in stock in your area.

Does trade in value really go up when new systems are announced? You'd figure it would be the opposite with everyone dumping their old systems to get the new one.
It depends. I remember some good trade in offers, but you had to preorder a new console to get the bonus.

Can anyone confirm if I need to include the original HDMI cable that came with the Xbox one? I don't think I have it.

I upgraded my son's console from an OG Xbox One to an Xbox One S for Christmas. I wonder if he'd get upset if I told him we had to get rid of his Xbox One in the interim....

I'd take $125 in GS credit when I paid like $140 for a new one!
You have to trade it in for another console for the Bonus credit

Oh yeah how could I forget. That 4K is probably the biggest reason why you should just do it. Applause

no idea but I think sometimes when new consoles are announced gamestop usually does promos like this I dont want to get rid of my PS4 or XBOX ONE X now til the new systems are at least announced sometime in the beginning of next year. I dont mind not having a console if I knew exactly when the new systems will be coming out

I feel blind but I don't see anywhere that mentions the bonus 50$. Could it possibly be location dependent?
It shows in weekly ad.

I upgraded from the OG to the S. Happy I did. That 1TB of space means less deleting/ reinstalling games and it's so much smaller and can sit vertically unlike the OG. Fits my entertainment center perfectly and no giant power brick too. Just my two cents.

Guess I might as well get rid of my original Xbox One now. Was going to sell it for about this price so can avoid the hassle of letgo/CL.

Is this true for all gift cards? I know they did not allow amazon/visa gift cards in the past but what about netflix/uber/etc type gift cards?
They nuked it like a few months ago. Almost every giftcard no longer works. Only online credits generally. Frown

Pretty sure it needs to be original or Microsoft name brand of some sort.

Hmm I just called GameStop and they had no idea about the extra $50. He also said I'd have to bring in everything that was in the box AND my original receipt. Wtf?
