how will I know if this is the 2nd generation?

I believed this is the 1st generation as there is another listing for the 2nd generation under the same seller Altatac.

There are actual security issues with ring devices (not even considering how amazon is using the data), these failed Mozilla's security/ privacy reviews as well. I have several ring devices so don't have much choice now but would not add any new ones.

The article is all "what if". There hasn't been a case where police have accessed customer video without the video owners consent.

The writer acts like the police have access to your videos. The police can only request video from you the owner. Not from Amazon or Ring. You would need to give consent for the police to see any of your videos.
