Deal alert notifications

I've had all alerts except deal alerts on the app turned off for a long time. This week I've started getting random deal alerts that have nothing to do with my alerts. Also I'm only getting the weird ones from the app, NOT in my email (I'm still getting normal deal alerts in my email). Any idea what may have changed?

Also, the app notification doesn't say which alert prompted the notification but the email ones do, is that an enhancement I could request?

SAME. It's super annoying. I've gotten a ton of shit, none of which I have alerts for. The spam is real.

Hi wbabbit and BoldIntrepid, appreciate the feedback. We do partner with our merchants to promote exclusive deals to our mobile app users through push notifications, but totally understand if it's not something you anticipated / signed up for. Something we'll definitely take into consideration as we enhance our app notification settings.

You say that as if it's something you've always done but this is definitely new as of the last few days. Initially I blocked all notifications from the app hoping it was a mistake but now I'll just uninstall.

I am extremely careful about what notifications I allow from all applications and unfortunately this moved your app to my "no longer trust" list.

wbabbit, we have been sending promotional pushes for some time now but we have sent more this year especially during BF / cyber monday. I appreciate the feedback and I really apologize if this has soured your experience with the app.

we are looking at introducing a toggle for you to opt out of these separate marketing pushes. stay tuned, and again, we really appreciate the feedback.

I hope your statistics show that ain't nobody tapping on the ad notifications and majority are just swiping them away. If it shows otherwise, I feel sorry for everyone else for proving to management that the ad notifications drive sales. I've muted all notifications for now, thx

You might want to expedite that before people start turning off all notifications or uninstalling the app. Because that's the point that I'm at right now.
