As with all batteries, the maximum capacity of this battery will decrease with time and usage.
  • Runs on Windows® 10 Home operating system.

Is this the same model that was sold for $349 on Black Friday? I bought one and am wondering if Office Depot has a price guarantee.

You persuaded me to hold on
It gained traction after my post, but in any case, a backlit keyboard and an IPS monitor can be had for just a tad bit more if you are patient. The lenovo TN panel is widely panned.

It's a good deal though for it's specs vs price.

I manage a shop that works on these things all day long. If you are looking for a system that will last look for Intel. AMD powered laptops notoriously don't last long. Most of the time heat is the issue but they do cut build quality to keep the prices lower than comparable Intel powered laptops. We are not talking one or two instances, i have seen hundreds if not thousands of failures. Consider yourself lucky if you are an exception.

Dear Slickdeals,

Please stop posting front page deals that do not specify IPS or TN screen! It is the first thing that everyone always asks.

folks, can anyone suggest if I should return the Costco hp 14" with core i5 10th gen and get this instead? My only question is if the CPU is worth it over the mem and storage. I think the mem and storage is extra expense that would be needed as against this one which comes with good amount of mem and storage. This is for general purpose laptop...nothing fancy.
The $280 Costco HP is a 10th gen i5 with ips screen and backlit keyboard for less money. It runs fine on stock 4gb and SSD. I am typing on mine now in fact. You will be hard pressed to find a better laptop deal than that one for some time.

Some buyers are picky about the fan noise. Either mine is immune to it or I'm deaf. No way I would trade this for the OD laptop. Based on the ips vs tn screen alone it's a no-brainer.

No real need to upgrade your HP if using it as a "general purpose" laptop. Mine is snappy out of the box. I will be upgrading the ram soon however as I will be using it at work and will need the the extra boost there.

If you're really price sensitive about upgrading but still want a performance boost, buy an extra 4gb stick on ebay for $15, pop it in the open slot, and you're good as gold.

As far as the SSD, you probably won't fill it up for some time if ever. No need to rush into that upgrade until you find a killer deal for one in the future. In fact, I laugh when people who buy a new laptop are fired up to make immediate upgrades like a larger SSD, and then don't even utilize the extra storage space by the time they move onto the next best laptop. Waste of money for most.

The one from Walmart just went back up to $299. However, OfficeMax is now selling the same one as Walmart for $279.

That deal is expired. Search "Costco $280" to read about it. It's a massive thread.
