you realize these can run without being wired.... although uses less batteries so you might have to change a little sooner...
I thought the batteries were backup only. How long do those batteries last if used full time?

Got 2...used Chase reward point to get extra $15 off.
Forgive me if this is elsewhere but what is this extra 15 off for a Chase reward point?

Note that it won't trigger the non-NEST units and it won't get triggered by the non-NEST units so it will not satisfy code requirements.
- Amazon review
The Amazon review is wrong, or at least misinformed. It 100% satisfies code requirements if ALL of the units are Nest. A combination of wired and battery powered is just fine.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any interconnected detectors that can be mixed and matched with different brands.

Thanks. Bought 5 for my house.

I managed to get a few from the Target deal but one of them was manufactured in 2016 and the other two in mid 2017...hopefully these are more recent.
Is there a way to check the date before opening the package ??

The reviews seem pretty harsh -

* Did not go off, and the house had a fire.
* Goes offline, with no notification.

It seems like serious problems.

It will alert constantly because it will think power is out. These are meant to be wired.

Yes look at the serial number...4 digits after AC are the week and year.

Agree, I was considering buying a couple of these and after reading the reviews, I was swayed.

Buy regular wired ones and a Ring listener, Wyze as the secondary listener. Maybe one battery Nest for the fancy. I don't understand why people still buy wired Nest, you have to replace ALL.
Wife is not tech savvy. The night light feature is nice. And we have high ceilings, easier to silent when it sometimes goes off during cooking.
