What are the main differences between this and the 55R613 at Costco for $400?
Less chance of lines on the screen showing up. This is a qled, older version isn't. dots instead of lines. Better colors though muted brightness so I've been told.
i think till yesterday rakuten was the better deal..my approximate total cost after points coming to ~462..
Depends on how you look at it. With the Rakuten deals - a lot of the benefits are in the form of the points that you can use on a future purchase.
For example, I bought it for $519 (pre-tax), $552 (post-tax) over the weekend, and should get about $33 in Cash back, between using Chase Freedom and going through Rakuten. So in that scenario, post tax you can assume I paid $519 (post-tax) after receiving cash back from my credit card. But I also got ~$15 in Rakuten points, so you could make an argument a price of $504.
The Rakuten deal today, in theory is cheaper. Factoring in credit card rewards you're paying more initially at $580 ($617 if I include tax), but if you factor in the $98 in Rakuten points you could argue a price for $481 (post-tax). The only issue here is you'd have to use the $98 on a future Rakuten purchase.
Using the eBay information, and assuming Paypal/Chase Freedom, factoring in Cash Back the final post-tax price for this would be around $503.

Wrong, that's not how QLED works. QD are an extra layer of film installed between the layers of LCD and panel. You can still get vertical lines from a failed board on QD sets.
