Great price for these specs especially with Gsync. I just wonder how quickly the cpu thermal throttles when gpu and cpu running full tilt.

You will need to undervolt and re-paste for maximum performance. Of course this is with any gaming laptop theses days...

Why are 2060 and 2080 laptops so much slower than Dekstop equivalents? I'm not even talking about Max q. Just regular ones. Laptops are just slower.

My AMD FX 4350 desktop honestly is snappier than my i7-8650 laptop in opening and closing files, folders, chrome and other software. Maybe not rendering or applying Photoshop stuff.

Power/thermal limits. The desktop versions of these cards use much more power.

No DVD drive and no ChromeOS? 32GB ram is standard at this price. Hard pass on this.

Any thoughts on the 240hz panel? Useless vs nice but really a waste of $150? Good for high end gaming only?

Also, I'd want to change the drive to NVMe and add some better RAM... anyone know it's possible to keep this cool with such additions?

Thanks...

There is one gaming laptop I have that actually does well with temperatures stock: Helios 500 with Ryzen 2700 and Vega 56. I can fold on it 24/7 and it does not hit thermal throttle ceiling even with AVX256 workloads.

Even undervolting, my gaming laptops with Intel coffee lake/refresh thermal throttle real quick with AVX loads. I have not messed with repasting with liquid metal yet.

Yes, that is why the thermals are able to handle a 200 watt vbios mod for the GPU.

yuck... I guess that answers my question...
So adding an NVMe drive would kill this thing?

Anyone have one, or know of a site that tests it well? I searched "hp omen 17t overheating" and found only a few articles...

Lol, every post I've seen about the HP Omen laptop have said that the thermals are just bad. Regardless if it's the cheap 1000$ version of this or not. The laptop structure just isn't good enough to handle the heat coming it's making 🤷🏽 ♂️

Go on Reddit. Try subreddit r/GamingLaptops and filter that to see if you come across any recent or old posts of this laptop thermals
