The cooling plate on gpu looks beefy enough in pictures I saw on forum link you posted, but the cpu side looks rather anemic. Maybe there are some heat pipes not visible from view.

From my prior experience with omen laptops and from what I read in forums, the hinge is point of failure. Hope they reinforced it for this model.

Yes, that is why the thermals are able to handle a 200 watt vbios mod for the GPU.

Almost exactly what I was going to say. The pipes from the GPU and CPU don't look promising. Like it's setup to fail over a couple years if so

The CPU produces about a third of the heat that the GPU does, especially in this rig. It will be interesting to see how it performs. From the reviews, an undervolt and re-paste seem to resolve any thermal issues.

From my personal experience with HP-OMEN gaming laptops...
I really didn't like them all. they always fail to maintain the temperature
while playing some games requires high specs. (for example PUBG)
It gets really hot and makes a crazy noise.....

If I did not already have nice desktop replacement laptop with VRR panel, I would probably pull trigger on this one. Seems like a fun system for people who like to mod.

The HP Omen has bad thermals. 🙄
At least 95% of laptops with this specs will have bad thermals.

Why are 2060 and 2080 laptops so much slower than Dekstop equivalents? I'm not even talking about Max q. Just regular ones. Laptops are just slower.

My AMD FX 4350 desktop honestly is snappier than my i7-8650 laptop in opening and closing files, folders, chrome and other software. Maybe not rendering or applying Photoshop stuff.
It has been that way for decades...
