Voted to be the BEST bang for your buck by the JoinUsInVR Steam Group members.... "It's at least 95% as fun as the more expensive options"

If you want even better, and have the budget for it, you can find some other options listed here in the "Best VR Headsets" Steam page, complete with Pros/Cons on each
Also, grab 2 FREE MONTHS of VR gameshttps://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/13397680

If only they did this last week; Amazon and B&HPhoto was $229.00 but Samsung had that nice 10% cash back. Great headset but you'll likely need the vrcover foam and maybe the headstrap if it ever gets back in stock.

Minor notes: The audio while good can get choppy depending on the headset cord. I figured one blew but after playing a punchy/dodgy game the sound came in and out so it may be a loose wire. I don't know if I should send it back though.

I actually made a stretchable strap with velcro for this set, but realize the halo design is supposed to fit at an angle on your head, not perfectly flat. Once I realized that, it fits pretty good even without a strap.

I have a lot of VR games. There is still a hassle factor to putting this on and getting it hooked up that keeps it from being an everyday gaming device. Still worth $229 for the experience.

Yesterday it was the same price and Samsung had 20% cash back through Rakuten

You say that, but there is really some great games and experiences out there and coming up besides Alyx. Boneworks, Stormlands, Jet Island, Superhot, Google Earth, other Valve games, modded Skyrim VR...

Outstanding price for arguably the best corded VR headset on the market. Yes, some have arguably better screen. Some have better arguably better controllers. Some have arguably better ergonomics. But as a whole, nothing else is better.

These were meant to sell for $600. That's how much they were when they first came out. Samsung basically cut the price in half when the plus came out last year as a "sale" but it's pretty much been $300 ever since. It's kind of a joke that the PSVR sells for more than this now. I have both and while the PSVR is good for what it is, it's laughable that it sells for more than the Odyssey now. The PSVR is so flimsy in comparison. It's feels like a toy compared to this and the screens are much lower res. Don't even get me started on those PSVR controllers.

Right now I would only consider two VR headsets. The Odyssey for a corded high quality experience, The Quest for a lower quality but a wireless experience. Wireless has to be the future if VR is to take the mainstream. That cord is a PITA.

I've had the HMD Odyssey+ that I bought last year for $250 and it has been great. I figured there would be something much better out by this point but nope. For someone looking to jump into full (non-mobile phone based) VR this is the best price-quality ratio on the market today.

I just bought those 2, the Odyssey and Quest because of the discounts, and whichever I don't like I can sell!

Can you? Yes. People run it with less. Should you? That's another thing all together. You'll be limited in refresh rate and of course game. I find that you really should have 8GB of VRAM for VR. Yes, many things will run with less but something's won't. They will stutter like mad.
