Editor's Notes & Price Research

Offer valid while promotion/pricing last. Be aware that color configuration may include additional cost. Please refer to the forum thread for example build configuration- Discombobulated
Base price of $339.99. I think the largest downside is the screen at the base configuration. However, the screen resolution, RAM, storage, network card, & keyboard can be configurable/upgraded. As an example, I have my own configuration below with upgraded screen (FHD but I believe it's still a TN panel), increased to 16gb RAM, and backlit keyboard.
Natural silver
Windows 10 Home 64
Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 (1.3 GHz, up to 3.9 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4 cores)+Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics
12 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB, 1 x 8 GB)
15.6" diagonal HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit (1366 x 768)
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
Office Software Trial
Security Software Trial
3-cell, 41 Wh Lithium-ion prismatic Battery
No DVD or CD Drive
Full-size island-style ash silver keyboard with numeric keypad
HP TrueVision HD Camera with integrated dual array digital microphone
802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.2 Combo
I configured the following for a total of $469.99.
Natural silver
Windows 10 Home 64
Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 (1.3 GHz, up to 3.9 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4 cores)+Intel® Iris® Plus Graphics
16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) (+$40)
15.6" diagonal FHD SVA anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080) (+$60)
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
Office Software Trial
Security Software Trial
3-cell, 41 Wh Lithium-ion prismatic Battery
No DVD or CD Drive
Full-size island-style ash silver backlit keyboard with numeric keypad (+$30)
HP TrueVision HD Camera with integrated dual array digital microphone
802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.2 Combo
EDIT:
My thought is that the screen type/resolution brings this laptop price way down. Even with the upgraded screen resolution to 1920x1080 - it is still SVA . I have yet to confirm but I believe it's still a TN panel.
The following HP 15t is configured with the 8th gen i7 and has the option for the IPS panel upgrade. Upgrade costs seem a bit steep though: https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp...-5vd87av-1

The "free" 16gb Optane memory upgrade takes the place of the NVMe slot and they provide a SATA SSD . I think I would rather have the NVMe SSD and add an additional SATA SSD in the future for more storage as opposed to having the Optane memory. Just my current thoughts but maybe you could convince me otherwise?

lol, got to love the color scheme "snow flake white". That's going to trigger someone.

Why didn't you upgrade the wireless card to at least Wireless AC for $5 more? I think that was a mistake. Heck, the Realtek Wif-fi 5 with Bluetooth 5 for only $10 more seems like a deal.
Also, upgrading to 256 GB Intel® SSD + 16 GB Intel® Optane™ memory is free. That's a better solution, correct? I can't seem to find a comparison of that vs a NVME solution but Intel seems to be hyping it up like its the next big thing: https://www.intel.com/content/www...-80mm.html
Anyone have any input on that SSD + Optane combo. It's a free "upgrade". Worth it or not?
Would this be good for running DJ/music production software and external dj controllers? Is it worth upgrading the ssd and/or network configuration options?

Optane sucks. Hp hyping it up like it's premium. I would go for non optane
I'm an extreme multitasker but most people don't use their computer like me. Google chrome with 100+ tabs open, photoshop open, HD home run running, etc. In these instances the Intel H10 might be the better solution. If you're just doing one thing at a time the H10 Intel Optane SSD might not be the right solution.

What am I missing here? Specs like these go for hundre
ds more-is it the build quality of this particular HP? Seems WAY to good to be true to score a current gen i7 and 12GB of RAM for this price.
Edit: It's now gone FP so probably close to be dead dead deadaki. keeping hope alive I can find something with an i5 for $250-$350 despite knowing that's serious wishful thinking. Then again this deal popped up so 🤞🏾 lol

That's a good point with the optane. Looks like you've got the Wifi 6 plan down. Nice!

Check your EPP offers too, I am seeing a $49 discount on this configuration. $290 for this configuration from HP is a SLICK deal and leaves room for some nice upgrades. In for One, even though I don't need one...

Also. is the high end screen an IPS?
