dewalt needs to step up its LED lighting game so much. Compared to Ryobi and Milwaukee big Yellow is a distant 3rd.
Cool story bro..... every brand has strengths and weaknesses, I standardized on Dewalt a decade ago and just last month completed the conversion from 18v to 20v, and really dont care if one tool from another manufacturer is slightly better bang for the buck.
I have the light, use it all the time, Is it over priced? Yes. Would I buy it again if needed? Yes.

Worth picking up if I already have the big light from DeWalt? Does this spread? The big one I have is mostly a spot light.

This light is rather useful and I think it's work $40. The only thing I wish it did was move the hanging hook to the bottom of the light, so I can tilt the head while it's hanging from above.

I actually love this flashlight, use it all the time and have tons invested into team yellow so I have a couple old black batteries (still kicking after 5+years) I think they are 1.4Ah or something that I use solely for this now and use the bigger ones on tools. I agree $40 is a lot for this but I have 0 regrets buying it a while back on same deal, contemplating grabbing another. Between wife and I, this thing gets used almost daily, don't even think about normal flashlights anymore

Acme Tools has the same price, worth considering if you don't have to pay sales tax with them. (But have to spend $49 to get free shipping)

Grainger has the light with a 2.0ah battery (DCB203) for $64 if you're in need of a compact battery. $25 for the battery isn't bad, it's about the going rate on eBay and better than you're going to do from most any other authorized retailer. (Local pickup to avoid shipping charge)

had one from last time works great. my only minor complaint that the hing as not that tight so when you shake it it moves.

Just ordered another one. can't wait till I have two.

going to hold one in each hand and prank other driver at night as incoming car headlights.

Great area light, my favorite dewalt light of the ones I've owned or tried.

100% with you on this. I used to be a Bosch faithful, but DeWalt has a much wider selection of tools and accessories. They're also cheaper than Bosch for the same class of tools. While other brands might do one or two things better on a specific tool, I'd rather have a complete set of tools on the same battery than have 5 different batteries and chargers because I want the best drill, best saw, best light, etc. I absolutely love this light, and would pay this price for another if mine ever breaks.

I have over $1000 invested in Dewalt 20v tools. I'm not saying the light is bad, I actually own one. I'm saying that it is overpriced, especially as a bare tool.
LOL I actually keep my old craftsman light and charger just because I can't pay $39 for a flashlight...

Though I still keep a brad nailer and jigsaw on the old Craftsman C3 platform. Wish it was all on a single battery system but... oh well

can I ask why you use a flashlight daily?

I own this. The light is very spread out, probably around 160 degrees in angle. This is not a spot light.

As for if it is worth picking up? That is a bit subjective. $40 is the common sale price, but I wouldn't call it a deal at $40. $40 should be full price IMO (at the frequency this goes on sale at this price point, in a way it already is I suppose).

That being said, I don't regret my purchase. I just didn't feel "slick" buying it for that price.

I'm fully invested in the 20 volt and 60 volt line myself. The lighting is the biggest weakness of the whole DeWalt ecosystem. I own this 500 lumen light and the large spotlight. all I'm saying is they need to make their lighting more robust compared to their competitors.

I don't know why you're beating a dead horse here. I expressed my opinion that this light is overpriced. You obviously disagree even though admittedly you did not buy any until they were $25. By all means, buy more at $39 since you think it's such a great deal. I will pass. Good luck.
Your comment ratings suggest your the one beating this to death.

This is a great light, for a decent price ($39 shipped with tax). I am in for another. They do last a long time, though not weather proof, in case anyone was curious. I would not take it in the rain or under a car while draining coolant.

Also, this is not a flashlight, it is more a general purpose light with a wide spread. I have $600 flashlights and those serve their purpose, this also serves a purpose for a nice even light distribution.

I will wait until it comes with a free battery like the dewalt fan. The fan went on sale 79 bare. Then few months later, same price with free 4ah battery.
