Author did a teardown and says the Neweer mics are super cheap b/c they use super cheap components and aren't condensing microphones. You're may be better off just getting a blue snowball on sale.

They are super cheap, but sound basically as good as a $3,600 Neumann and other high end mics.

I own one, it takes a higher signal and there is handling noise, but it records fine. I can't hear much of a difference between it and my AKG C414 (bought used for $550). For a kid or someone with almost no budget, I recommend it.

U talking about the newer or the snow ball?

Pass on these. You should spend 2-3x this on a mic alone, at minimum, if you're recording anything you care about.

Why? Whats with the arbitrary numbers? Why spend 2-3x as much "at minimum"? Why not 1.5x as much? Or 7x as much? Or .05x as much? Have you ever owned or tried one? Obviously not. They are dirt cheap, they are built cheap, YES, they feel cheap, YES, they sound cheap. NO!. They sound very good overall. I've had mine for a couple years. Did you bother to watch and listen to the links above?

I've had a home studio for years. I've had lots of experience with budget microphones. I've yet to see a mic capable of making decent recordings for less than about $40-50, and the definition of "decent" is highly subjective at that price point.

I've had one of these mics in my hands. A friend brought it over to try out about 6 months back when they were blowing them out on Amazon over the summer. It was straight garbage, on a nice pre-amp running through a mixer, or through a USB interface. Noise floor is atrocious, tons of hiss, crackle, plosives, etc. Needed a ton of gain. There is no isolation/shock-mounting of the internal components, the capsule was trash, the XLR connection was poorly soldered, fit and finish was overall bad.

You can get a quality condenser mic, if you shop around, for $40-50. I won't plug any specific brands here, but I can if you are actually interested.
