At this point this is (arguably) the best deal on Y740 with RTX 2060 GPU. Rakuten points bring the final price to lower than the $1000 mark even after tax, which is better than various deals on the same Y740 model during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Of course, this means you are stuck with ~$450 in Rakuten points and this may be somewhat inconvenient. But overall, it's a very solid deal on one of the best gaming laptops.

For some people, yes. Others will see it as a hassle. For me, Rakuten points are almost as good as cash.

I'd be mad if I bought other laptop in the 1k range during bf period. This just checks all the boxes. Get those returns ready.

I need this exact same config in 17" version. That's not on offer. https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/frown.gif
Found the exact config I meant - https://www.rakuten.com/shop/leno...1UJ004TUS/
Sold Out though. And this particular one is not a better deal than Lenovo's own Cyber Monday deal + Rakuten 15% cashback.

If I read that correctly... those points can be used only to buy something else from the Rakuten store? i.e. you can't opt to cash out?

How do the Rakuten points work? Can you straight up use them when they give them to you? Is it money?

Here's the FAQ website...

https://support.rakuten.com/hc/en...er-Points-

One of the key things I was looking for was expiration. Looks like they expire in 1 year.

You can buy any products available on http://rakuten.com/shop and pay with points. Points expire in 1 year. For this promotion, you will get points in your Rakuten account once Lenovo ships your laptop (usually 2-3 business days from the order date).

I was pretty stoked to get this a month ago for $1300 with $270 in points. Now I'm sad.

Side note about this laptop. The macro keys on the side of the keyboard completely ruin it for me, and I am returning it. Others may be able to get used to them, but I think they are a horrible design choice.

Picked up the Y740 with the 2070 Max Q for $1399 + $419 in points. That one has a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD but this has a 1TB SDD and it's cheaper up front and you get more points. Not to mention 2060 is about the same as a 2070 Max Q. This is a crazy good deal. Lenovo hasn't shipped my order yet I think I may cancel that and get this one instead.

I was actually thinking about getting that deal myself. Even got upset when it was gone before I pulled the trigger. Now I am happy with my decision, 1TB SSD + ~$100 is more useful to me than 5-10% better performance of GPU.
