I know it sounds stupid but the main thing they are good for is when you are active outside and it's cool but not cold. Perfect use case is fall weather DIY projects or backpacking. Your arms have full range of motion and coat sleeves don't catch on stuff and you don't sweat as much because of the extra ventilation.

Did it come back in stock? I requested an email when it got back in stock about a week ago (no email from HD).
Hi there, I am able to add the Carhartt Codura Gilliam Vest in Sequoia to my cart. I updated OP w/ avail sizes.
The Carhartt clothing seem to get restocked - e.g. Gilliam vest finally came back in stock in mid-November at $40 price point, and something I check from time to time - link [Canopy color did go OOS]. Happy Shopping!

Have you ever worn one layer around your legs and three layers (an undershirt, shirt, and jacket) on your torso? Why?
Same principle here. Your torso usually requires the most insulation, but when it's not too cold, a vest over, say, a sweatshirt or flannel gives you freer range of motion for things like driving, sports, chopping wood, or shoveling.

I found fleece vests were even more breathable in most situations. Some people need more ROM than others...
