I don't understand why anyone would want watch with expensive outer shell when you gonna replace it anyways after a year or two. This is not a like one of those classic regular watches which you intend to keep then for decades.

I believe the stainless also comes with harder, more scratch resistant glass. It yeah, I agree...remember the $$$ gold version in the first gen?? What a waste.

Don't fool yourself, apple watches do not look nice
Also it looks exactly the same as the 1st Gen. So if you're buying it for looks you don't need to drop $600 on a new one

I am not into apple echo system at all but I got it for my dad who has a heart condition. I am not sure how helpful it will be to detect in case of emergency and plus point is it has emergency calling without having a cellphone plan. I guess it all boils down to needs and "doing as much as you can"

I'd also prefer the newer tech since s1 is slower. Why disqualify my preference for looks just bc you don't like it. It's a deal when the price is dropped from usual

I actually bought the series 4 at launch and recently upgraded to the Series 4 stainless steel when they had them on sale at Best Buy for $300 off. The main motivation is the better screen display, as the aluminum version scratches too easily. It also feels and looks nicer case wise, and the charging dock is stainless steel as well.

Overly the sapphire glass of the stainless steel is just a huge improvement in scratch resistance.

What I'm trying to say is aluminum version does the exact same thing as the more expensive steel or ceramic one.

It is amusing to watch people talking to their wrists like Penny in inspector gadget. And then repeating themselves repeatedly because the speech to text was wrong.
