Cherry MX Red switches are made specifically for gaming, to be tactile and fast, so if you don't mind not having the numpad/don't need it on a gaming keyboard (personally I prefer numpads), then this is a great deal.

Don't take advice from this guy. Red switches are not tactile switches, they're linear switches. They've also got basically the longest actuation distance you can get on modern highly-available switches.

Not to say they're not good for gaming, but personally I prefer clicky or tactile switches for gaming so you don't have to bottom out to be sure it's been actuated.

There is no difference in performance all that matters is the feel. Red, brown, green, orange, yellow, blue, white, and black, it does not matter all switches are the same except how it sounds or feels. Black, or white, are the quietest and it is in most mechanical and membrane keyboards like Microsoft's. Red is the second quitest. Blue is the most clicky and is what gamers typically like. Brown is mid tear along with green, orange, and yellow.

True, but that does not make red switches bad to use.

I don't know a single gamer, ever, who would prefer Blue. Blue take the most force to depress and have an extremely long travel. Virtually every gamer I know of prefers Speed or Brown.

Have you ever heard of Linus Tech tips and other tech channels which praise Cherry Mx Blue Switches. Blue switch keyboards are also among the top sellers. I do not know what gamers you talked too, but if most people buy The blue switches, then most people prefer the blue switch keyboards. The "speed" switches are the silver switches and while you may love the feeling of Corsair's own cherry mx silver switches, that does not mean that those switches are among the top sellers. Infact this red switch which you are critizing is a mx red, but a modified mx red with a speed switch................ You realized that this hyper x fps pro is a silver switch aka a speed switch only with a mxred built into it to be silent. It is a speed switch. You hate this keyboard which even proves my own point in the fact that you hate this speed switch keyboard proves that most gamers do not prefer speed switch keyboards.

Mustard is right
Is he though? Cheery mx blue are a type of speed switch. The speed switch he is referring too is the silver switch. The Silver switch and the brown switch are not among the top 5 of most sold keyboards. Blue is #1 in most sold. If he is referring to the hardcore gamer then maybe he is right, but he cannot say that the majority of gamers love the silver and brown switches, when the market dictates that they don't. If you want to get into the nigty gritty then even silver switches are not among the top of hardcore gamers as Razor's keyboards all use a green and orange switch and razor keyboards are more popular than any type of gaming keyboard on the market, Logitech does not use mx switches, they use their own type of switch themselves and Logitech is the #1 keyboard brand( most of the keyboards they sell are mx blacks). Mxblacks or standard mechanical keyboards are the quietest keyboard and are the most popular among the population which seems to dictate that the majority of people around the world prefer quiet keyboards like mx blacks or mx reds. Either way you want to spin it, I never seen anyone except him praise an MX Brown switch as much as he does.

Proof, please. it took me 30 sec to find the 5 polls above that say the opposite, and while they're unscientific, there's more where that came from.

Go ahead and buy blue and then when your family complains about the constant click clack, remind them of how much you spent on it. I have the Alloy Elite with MX Brown and it's been wonderful.
