what would be the best most reliable way to test the health of one of these? Can the health be modified/reset when they refurbish these?

I usually use Samsung Magician to view the health. I've purchased at least 10 250GB and a couple 1TB refurbs from Geek Squad and they were all 100%. Max had 6 hours of use I believe. I had a couple drives with some minor surface scratches but otherwise no problems. My understanding is that these were all returned within the usual a 30 day window and I can't find a review on the web saying that they received a bad unit or their unit had lots of hours. Seems like a great deal.

The 250GB is frequently listed (front paged) on here. There are lots of comments/personal experience with these if you view those. Also on Reddit. This is one of the lowest prices I've ever seen for the 1TB variant.

No idea...but it's probably tied to the drive S.M.A.R.T. status. Most of mine have a random low amount of hours on it out of the box.

Thinking about taking a chance on this one with the ebay bucks. Recently I got that 2TB QVO for $150 and it works.

Bestbuy refurbished is basically just they looked at an item that was returned, tested it, and it worked for them so it is good. It is a ssd and if the ssd works, I'm sure that this is a great deal. Most people forget that Refurbished to these companies are just renewed. Infact, Amazon had to change from refurbished to renewed because that is what refurbishment is. Real refurbishment would be getting an item that was broken and fixing it like most people do with consoles. You cannot really fix a broken ssd, it is either broken or it works. This "refurbished" ssd is just a ssd that someone bought, did not like it for some reason and returned it to a store and Bestbuy instead of recycling it, is selling these returned products as "refurbished" to reduce waste. Now your question you have to ask yourself is this: Is bestbuy a trusted company that you would trust to actually inspect and test every ssd they sell to make sure it works to manufacturer specs. The person who used to own the ssd, could have had performance issues, the drive could have had bad sectors, or they simply could not use it do to user error. You do not know with refurbished or even renewed items. The only question is if the discount is worth the gamble of if you are going to get a like new ssd with little to no wear and have it work like it should, or will it be a crappy broken Samsung defective harddrive that you just wasted 85$ on.

You can use Samsung Magician software to do a Diagnostic Scan. This will reveal or fix any bad sectors. Also, use Performance Optimization to restore the drive from any sort of degradation. Also, had new firmware available for both of them.

I bought 2 of these "used" from Amazon Warehouse they are both working perfectly. One of them never used and another one had 2tb of data written per Samsung Magician software.

What is the warranty of the Amazon warehouse drives? Best Buy is only three months.

you can also buy this for the same price straight from best buy

I don't know what the return/refund policy is for the ebay store, if you buy it on ebay from best buy can you return it for a full refund in store if its bad? I assume not, have to go through eBay return process and ship it back.

Not sure, hopefully by the time that drive needs warranty replacement it won't matter.
