I second this. Abaoutlely awful and filled with bloatware. Plus it's tracking everything you do.
A Reddit thread points out Sony has no plans to update sets like the 2019 AG8 OLED television, and the X900E and X900F sets from the previous year. According to a Sony salesman posting on the thread, the reasoning is the presence of the decidedly substandard ATV2/ATV3 (MediaTek MT5891) chipset that would struggle to handle the updated version of the software. https://www.trustedreviews.com/ne...st-3962970

I've always been under the impression Sony's OLED TVs are more dependable and have slightly upgraded tech vs the LG line. Anyone own a Sony OLED or know more info to confirm or deny this?
I just switch from a Sony to an LG. LG is better and cheaper. Check https://www.rtings.com/ and see for yourself!

Can anyone comment on their experience with Greentoe? Any watchouts? Also, I'd really like to know if shipping is scheduled with the buyer or just sent out however/whenever. For a purchase like this, I'd definitely want to be able to arrange to be home for delivery.

Thanks!
Ordered the 77 OLED with Greentoe. No issues. Slower than BestBuy to get it but was worth the $1500 savings to wait and but still get it from an authorized retailer. Would recommend based on my first experience.

I thought Sony uses LG panels.
That is true. However, Sony has their own video processing engine, which is superior (in my opinion) to LG. Colors appear more natural, motion more fluid, etc.... Now can everyone tell or appreciate the difference and pay premium for Sony? That is the question that only YOU can answer.

I just offered $2300 and they countered with $2599... it appears they don't charge tax either.

I wouldn't let updates for smart tv features be the decision breaker... at some point, it will stop getting updates... most likely within 2-3 years, if that. By then, get a seperate streamer like a roku that has dedicated processing and works 10x better anyway. So focus on getting the best picture.

Not an authorized dealer despite what the ad says.

I know a lot of people really prefer the Roku TVs. I think TCL makes a ton of them but obviously they're not OLED but still solid LCD TVs.

I've never used Roku but after hearing someone say they think it's better than Android TV and a lot easier to use with a nicer UI, I've started running into more and more comments that praise Roku as being better.

But that's not to shit on Android TV. I just didn't know Roku had such a large following
ROKU is great if you dont mind picture and sound compression. Most videophiles and audiophiles (like anyone getting this TV) would throw the ROKU out the window.

I'm a sony guy, just can't throw away a good tv or money. I paid 4k for my 300b I think sony bravia xbr 4k 3d tv with no hdr. This disrespectful tech racket is crap. Your solution is to throw money away? Larger amounts too? I can't cut off a perfectly good arm every 1-3 years. Then you think it should be just my hand sony-vizio then for the bottom of the barel? None of this is acceptable. Then the black friday frenzy harasses me for not getting in on the ritual of self emulation annually. I say no.

These new sonys don't even have 3d so all my 3d blurays are useless then? They couldn't give me an honest transaction to save their lives. There is no option that isn't disrespectful and doesn't put me down like the peasant I am to these corporations spraying the skies every day. I may not have a solution other than not buy anymore but yours just burns money and fuels this genocide fire. Ruins it for everyone keeps it all going. You this is a problem.
