About the same specs as the Moto E5 Play, upgrades to Android Oreo 8.1

In-store only, YMMW, was $40, should work on RP (GSMA/AT&T) and other AT&T MVNOs

Remove the SIM that comes with it (pre-installed) before turning on, and insert your AT&T or AT&T MVNO (RP GSMA, Cricket, etc) SIM and turn on.

It will not work with any carrier other than AT&T or AT&T MVNO out of the box (AT&T network only). You can try the AT&T unlock portal after 6 months of use with the AT&T/MVNO service.

Some people have gotten lucky and it was unlocked after 6 months.

Good deal if available nearby but limited bands if specs are correct and you're trying to unlock for other carriers

LTE (FDD)
Bands 2(1900), 4(AWS-1), 5(850), 12(700 a)

It will work fine, but missing the newer Band 66 and 71 for better building penetration and rural range.

Unlocking it sounds equally as difficult unless you get lucky with the AT&T portal.

Bought a couple earlier this year for 29.99. Last one was from BB to put my dad on Red Pocket. Hard to find in-store even then (Sept).

My phone broke on holiday travels and I need a quick burner phone for my AT&T line.

Would I be able to use my existing AT&T line on this phone? In other words, could I go to BestBuy and have them activate this phone with my current AT&T number?

Also, what does prepaid mean in this context? Is it that it will only work with prepaid minutes/data? Would it work with my monthly plan?

Thanks!

yes. That has happened to me before.

All you need to do is put in the SIM from your broken phone into this phone.
The "prepaid" is just marketing to mean that it was designed for the ATT Prepaid service.
But since it has all the necessary bands, even though it is locked to the ATT network...

No "activation" is required. It would use your current plan that is active on that SIM.

It'll work. It's unlocked for any usage on AT&T, doesn't matter what plan. You'll only run into problems if moving carriers.

I don't know about the activation part sorry. Check past threads for AT&T prepaid deals at best buy, people have gone into fine detail about that there.
