I could use this and move a dot elsewhere but I still don't think this is even worth $10 since most of my dot price points have been 10-15$
This is true but you're getting Amazon music for four months

Guys! Don't listen to this liar. He is lying!
Where is $40 Echo dot? Normal price for Echo dot(3gen) is $25. Sometimes Echo Dot(3gen) is only $9.

Give me a link for $40 Echo Dot please? Don't be a troll.
When they came out the dots were $50. Calm down dude!

Any reason why none of the Alexa devices have audio optical out? IMO there is a huge difference in quality between an Optical cable and the 3.5mm, especially when it comes to subwoofers
The reason less expensive ones don't have it is because of cost. But there less excuse for the larger more expensive ones - there is probably wouldn't make a meaningful difference in sales.

The 1st gen Fire TV box had optical out. But I think that's the only one that had it.

I already have three of these. Trying to think where I could use another one! These are great hooked up to a sound system for Amazon Music Unlimited.

In for 1 to tryout in the car as I didn't want to drop $25 on an echo auto with so many mixed reviews.
How would you use it in the car? Via your phone I guess?

Does not work in the car,Echo input works through WiFi, unlike Echo auto which runs on Bluetooth/ NFC. Hope this helps...works well on home network with 3.5mm out to any existing speaker system.
Hotspot your phone should work I was using. A dot before they finally got echo auto looked funny but it worked

I feel that the Echo Input responding time is faster comparing with other Echo devices for turn on/off light. Any other people has the same experience? I just guess it might be due to its simple function.
I was going to say I think the input hears me better than my Dot. It could be down to placement though, my Input is mounted a little higher.

These aren't exactly revolutionary in their use over a Dot, but they can be nice. You can mount an Input almost anywhere pretty unobtrusively since it's so flat. I use one in my kitchen with a speaker mounted up high on top of a cabinet. If I used a Dot in the same place, I don't think the cloth speaker grille would fare very well against food splatter and other kitchen incidents.

See the comments and reviews on this thread and on the Amazon product page for all options on how to connect. For me personally, I will connect to my car's Aux input with hotspot from my phone. I wasn't crazy about trying the Echo Auto at the higher price (now at $35) with all the reviews about disconnecting from Bluetooth and use of power etc.

Just buy it through this deal and return the new ones you receive. Not sure why no one ever thinks of doing this.

I put one of these on my milwakee work radio. It's powered by the USB and works great for using Alexa in the yard or at work
