Yeah kind of. Much simpler, but the story (I think) is better. It's a dark, dark game though, unlike the bright/sunny nature of most FE games.

Hated the first game. Boring. Long static cutscenes. Slow, dull version of the tactical (FF Tactics, Mario/Rabbids, etc.) playstyle. Total disappointment. Never tried the sequels.

But I hated more that the three games actually require gigantic downloads even with the cartridge. Basically no real reason to buy the physical version.

Combat is similar to Fire Emblem but a little smaller in scale, plus Oregon Trail. There is no relationship stuff like in Fire Emblem. I really enjoyed it.

I feel the complete opposite. I loved the heavy focus on story and how it played out according to your decisions and actions. The fighting system might seem simplistic but there was actually quite a bit of strategy to it. I would never compare it to something like FF Tactics - just cause you fight on a grid does not make the game the same. I would equate this more to something Telltale would have made but with a lot more game to it and with an actual battle system. If you don't like strong story narrative games then I would for sure stay away from this.

My real point was that the physical cartridge still requires you to download at least 2 of the 3 games
