These products are great. Unless you're getting serious and you buy a PEX hand tool, these are the best ways for a novice to do some plumbing.

There are 2 schools of thought on shark bites.

1. They are awesome and make plumbing super easy and efficient

2 They oring based pipe connection is guaranteed to fail, and is foolish to install in to a permanent system

I'm with the latter

Everything fails eventually, or in the case of today's fly-by home remodeling, gets stolen. Which is what happened to both places I own. I have had pex installed for approximately 6 years in one place I own and I have had only one valve give to a minor leak. Everything else is together. To each their own Smilie

I hesitated to use push connecters in a house remodel maybe ten years ago because of comments like yours. But now that these have been out for a good while, is the fear of failure over time actually born out? Is there any data which shows that these are any more of a problem than what is seen with other methods.

I have push connectors at my house. Should I be replacing those with shark bites? How hard is it to replace?

I'm going to put an automatic shutoff valve on the line coming into the house. I decided that I'll learn how to sweat a pipe, rather than use a Sharkbite. It'll actually cost me a bit more to do it the old way, given that I need to buy the tools and some practice fittings.

I don't want to find myself redoing the work in a decade, or wondering when the o-rings are finally going to fail. I'd use a Sharkbite as a temporary fix or in a less-critical place, but fast and easy isn't usually the best solution.
