Personally, the 128gb ssd size is no issue for me. Not sure what people store in their laptop but unless you run large images clips or whatever. 128gb seems enough for the users just doing word processing surfing the web, online shopping etc. Also I have been using 256gb usb (those tiny ones looking like usb receiver thing) and its been working just fine when I
need a large size file.

There are 3rd party Bluetooth keyboards without the Alcantara.

My oops, no microsd card on the Surface Laptop, only on the Pro 7.

I don't see the $699.99 deal either even if I'm logged in and I'm a BestBuy Elite member

Tempting. Has anyone used stock Ubuntu on this one?

Not yet working since it just came out. Wait a bit and it'll be supported.

Well the fact that 128gb ssds are much slower than larger ssds like 512gb or 1tb drives, and the OS takes about 30-40Gbs, you are left without much.
Unless you can get by using external ssds. Its like being limited buy 2GB data each month on your cell phone.

Anyone use these for Lightroom?
Runs just like any other laptop...because it's got the same parts as a similarly equipped one.

Ssd, so fast on the general functions.

If you're thinking of running heavier Adobe apps like Premiere, get a better one.

I would buy one but not with Alcantara and wish it was black whole aluminum finish. For the price, it is ok for a Ultrabook. You can get a xps 13 for about the same price.
That's true I saw the black one at Costco and it's beautiful the Alcantara keyboard on this makes it feel cheap.

I had to go through the checkout process and at one point the "apply" $100 discount button appeared. It did not appear on the main item page.

I have been using the previous version of surface laptop. Although I dont like Alcantara fabric keyboard either, I feel like it helps me not feeling the heat on my hand and palm. It could be the laptop managing the heat and cooling well but I guess I am trying to see the positive side Smilie

I use microsd for pix, files, doc

If you want it for basics as you listed, you can get a laptop for half the price
