Looks like the Hover-1 Pioneer walmart deal might be driving down prices

Not here to advertise but the Segway Ninebot Max is better over this one. 40 miles in one charge, 15-19mph tops, built in light, 10' wheels, IPX5 weather resistant (been riding mine in the rain) Had mine for 2 weeks, love it. You can pay with affirm installment plans if you can't pay all at once.

2 cons: a bit heavy for most and pricy but still worth it for daily commute

How does this compare with the previous deal?
https://slickdeals.net/f/13692134-hover-1-pioneer-electric-folding-scooter-black-148-ymmv-going-in-and-out-of-stock?src=SiteSearch

All I can see when comparing the two on walmart is the one for $300 is about 1.5mph faster than the $150 one :-/

I'm sure there are other advantages but what are they specifically? (Less weight, bigger motor, better battery?)

Found this on Reddit:

"The base is the same as the M365, Xiaomi definitely made the Hover 1 scooter.

The differences are: no Bluetooth, reduced top speed, no firmware upgradeability. For many people, the ability to apply custom firmware is one of the top reasons they buy a brand name M365.

If this is your first scooter and you want to test out last mile solutions, this is the perfect scooter. There is a wealth of knowledge around this chassis along with cheap spare parts so this scooter is definitely worth the money."

Are you kidding me? You're comparing a $650 scooter that's marginally better to a $299 one? That's so ridiculous I suspect that you ARE here to advertise.

My question is how do I buy one of the used Bird/Lime/Lyft/etc scooters? New batteries and should be good as new.
you find one on the street and swap out the electronics. your local tow yards have plenty sitting around for auction.

You pretty much nailed it (bigger motor, better battery). The battery is a big thing though for these things. If the battery for the Horizon is crap, it will start losing a lot of charge over a year or two of use..

I've got the m365 and if given the same choice today, I'd get the $149 Horizon. Although the battery life is probably +30% better. The Xiaomi gives you about 18 miles and the Horizon about 15. I figure, by the time the Horizon breaks down, every other escooter would have halved in price and I could apply the $150 difference to buying a much nicer one.

most people swear by putting slime in your tires before riding out on air filled scooter tires and it helps limit the flats, lots of people putting on 500+ miles before seeing a flat
if its such a hassle when you get a flat what do you do after 500 miles? buy another scooter?

I been using this for a year already and have put 700 miles and is still using the original tires, I did the firmware mod so that it can go 18.6 mile basically a 3 miles increase but way more torque and top speed

They go for $105 apiece at local auctions . Better off buying a new one with warranty . After you change the computer and buy clone parts to get it working, you'll end up paying close to $200 anyway

first of all, to heck with you. i weigh 200 and i want this. also my girlfriend may need it for her commute but i still want it.
Lol. I only ask because the tires do feel super delicate. Any average sized male or above will end up blowing the innertube at some point. A heavier rider also puts more stress on the handle bar whenever you hit a bump because your bodyweight jerks the bar back and forth. It's not the rider's fault; just poor design. Tubeless tires are almost required if you weigh over 140lb and don't want to replace the blown tubes regularly
