I own this from a previous sale, I've been playing games on it (Beat Saber, Minecraft) and I think it's got a better screen than the PSVR I already have and I'm pleased with it so far.

While it's Windows Mixed Reality, SteamVR seems to play pretty nice with it to the point I haven't really had to do much so far to make it work compared to a Vive or Index. It's going to be supported by Half-Life: Alyx natively in WMR, so that's great.

What I DON'T like is the comfort of the headset. It sits really heavily on the forehead and can give a headache in its default configuration. This can be mitigated by an over the head strap to relocate the weight to the top for your head which makes it much, much more comfortable. I won't link anything, but there are apparently velcro straps to be had on Amazon and places like Studioform Creative makes a dedicated headstrap.

I also sprang for a replacement eyepiece that was a bit larger and more cushy - the headstrap made more difference for me but getting a larger eyepiece reduced a bit of light leakage since I don't have a large head.

Would I buy this again? Yeah. WMR and SteamVR seem to work fine, haven't tried Revive for Oculus stuff, and tracking seems fine. Comfort issues can be solved by aftermarket stuff, and it'll play the new Half-Life and it is bar none the best deal in PC VR in my opinion right now.

Edit: one thing I was advised is that Ni-Zn 1.6v rechargable AA batteries are heavily recommended for the remotes. Apparently they don't like lower voltage batteries as much and that can cause tracking issues? I picked up some just in case so I can't comment how alkaline or other batteries work.

Either something was wrong with your HMD, your PC, or the shape of your head just doesn't jive with the fit or something because I can throw my O+ on and get a clear picture with minimal adjusting. With its hardware IPD set properly it's as quick as putting on a baseball cap for me. Image quality is excellent and the blacks are phenomenal. God rays are kept to the barest minimum and a huge improvement over my Rift and the only IQ issue I've noticed is very slight ghosting which I only see in a handful of games.

It's also so easy to set up I can move it between rooms or switch PC's and have it running in less than two minutes.

Not saying you guys didn't encounter the issues you say you encountered, but I'd just like to provide a counter balance because it works great on my end and the tracking is about on par with my original Rift save for a few edge cases that never come up in games (like holding my controller behind my back without moving it for five seconds). I can 100% songs on Expert in Beat Saber, Audica, and Pistol Whip, as well as headshot fools in Onward and Pavlov like it's nobody's business so I don't know what to say other than for $230, if properly configured, you're getting excellent PQ and great AKG audio.

This has been the going price for most of the holiday season.

Quest is sold out everywhere for the holidays (only promo was free vader games) - the Rift S is $50 off MSRP. Not great, but something...

(I did pick up a quest and it's fantastic.)

So is Samsung going to make another WMR headset or is WMR dead in the water?

I realized that there hasn't been any new WMR headsets for a long time now...

My 2 cents: tried this for thanksgiving break and was disappointing. Not sure about gaming experience, but watching 4K became very pixelated.
