Why would you "game" on the battery...? That's not how any of this works.

Gaming on battery is not optimal, only good for less graphic intensive games. Anytime you intend to game you should be on AC or else your CPU/GPU will throttle horribly with Triple AAA titles. So why yes you can still game on battery, your components will be working in a starvation mode since battery cant provide enough juice when things ramp up.

If you are not playing AAA fps titles you can game on battery. It's still not optimal as you usually get up to 90 minutes, but if you can plug back in it works well enough. Lunch breaks come to mind.

Nice deal. Just be aware that despite the 3xxx series processor, all ryzen mobile 3xxx are actually based on last year's Zen+ (12 nm) architecture It is not Zen 2 (7 nm).

I hesitate to write this as it puts me into the worst SD category (too lazy/uninformed). Hopefully, the self-deprecation will help.

I'm buying for son who is a future engineering student with interest in light gaming, and video editing, who generally takes care of his stuff. I've been watching out for deals since BF and haven't found any that really stand out.

Any suggestions/admonishments/recommendations would be appreciated. If I have wasted your time, apologies in advance.

Yeah. You practically are using this as a desktop. On battery if you are doing basic things like PowerPoint presentations.

I've been waiting for too since November. I missed really good deals when I should've bought. This laptop is a very good deal for a RTX 2060 card..

But have heard some negative things said about TUF thermals or/and build quality. But I don't think that should deter you.
For now this one and the Evoo 1660ti laptop at $900 are the current best deals under 1k

Just got this dell G3 i7. It's $882.99 https://deals.dell.com/en-us/prod...0626102311 coupon 50OFF699. I was actually able to get it shipped for under $800 with a 15% off coupon they sent in the mail.
That's a 1650.
