Looking at the benchmarks of the 5700 flashed to xt bios and set to an OC profile, you're basically 1fps off of the 5700xt performance wise. These clearly don't cover every game and resolution, but it's safe to say you're close enough to the 5700xt to call it about equal. It took about 5 minutes to flash, then a reboot and set the amd profile to overclock gpu. Simple and done.

As you noted, clearly there is risk but to each their own if they can follow instructions properly or not. There's technically a chance to brick any device if a BIOS flash goes wrong.

If you make a backup of the BIOS using gpuz before you flash, there's a good chance you can recover if it fails.

Edit - recommend a gpu support brace for this card. It's big and heavy and the fans tend to make a little more noise when not supported well. I snagged one off Amazon for 10 bucks.
You can backup your BIOS but if your card is bricked, you won't be able to post. Personally, I would only try flashing those cards with dual BIOS like Pulse or Red Dragon. I don't like how the non-XT cards have cut down coolers. I like my PC to stay cool and quiet. I would just spend the extra $60 for a real XT. I'm keeping the card a few years. It's not a big deal.

an RTX 2080 is rated 70W higher than the 5700 XT. the XT actually consumes about the same as an RX 590. peak for the hotter cards is 250W so well within comfort zone.

Really depends on how much power your PSU supplies on the 12V rail. the 5700 is only rated about 165W so even a 500W PSU can handle it.

I have a 600 watt power supply. Would an RTX 2080 be more or less power hungry ?

My $.02:
If u are not going to flash XT bios ever, this card should be good and u save 30$. If u were gonna flash XT bios at some point then sapphire plus gets u better cooler with dual bios switch for that 30$ extra.

Oh. I thought the game bundle was included in this xfx deal. If it isn't Pulse deal is better I think.

So want to make this move but every time I consider it I look around and all I read is driver issues with this card and modern warfare. Don't want the headaches

If you qualify for the eBay 10%:

XFX 5700 DD Ultra is still $299.99 from BestBuy.

Not sure if it comes with that AMD rewards game thing.
With 10% off probably the best valued 5700 deal.

How would this compare to a 1080 (non TI). I have one of the nicer EVGA ones.
Would it be a about equal in regards to performance, power, and noise?

FYI for anyone who cares I successfully flashed this card to a 5700 XT, automatic 10% performance boost for free.... Hard to beat the price/performance...
