Shows 49.99 on their website maybe I'll go inside the store and check it out.

This means that they were dispositioned to scrap and should not have been on the shelf. You got lucky, OP.

Aside from this being a couple steps past extremely YMMV it is also a pretty baffling tool. 220 lumens is crazy low for how bulky this thing is. Milwaukee's 4v redlithium USB line or their double A powered lights are brighter and smaller.

To be a penny, it would have had to been on clearance for a long time and about 75% off for many weeks and even then if it somehow did not sell out your store employees would have to fail to remove it from the shelves once it hit a penny.

Usually anything desirable clears out in the weeks it's about 75% off. I've gotten many penny items in my days (including about $2000 worth of gutter guards for less the. $2), but nothing nice like name brand tools. Def gonna be a big ymmv

Me too, I wouldn't believe it if OP hadn't posted pics.

Yep. Slickdeals has taught us extremists well.
As well as that just because you pick up an entire shelf of these [due to a lazy/slow employee,] that the chances are high that you will not be able to purchase all of those. They will generally stop you from purchasing all of them, although they'll often allow you to purchase 1, if they're not in a bad mood. Your best luck is in the self checkout if you come across 1/many. Although you can still be stopped, your chances are lower in many cases.

Hopefully they didn't change the self checkout trick, although I myself have NEVER found a penny item. I've thought about stopping by "THE" home depot (as ridiculous as "THE" U), but I'd be like a kid in a candy store, and succumb to their psychological tactics of getting me to purchase crap I don't need. Even if that tactic is as flimsy as having tools FOR sale.

That's why I never bother, just like I've also learned not to mess with walmart clearance items, even if brickseek shows a few/many. Maybe I should just call first, to check if they have it in stock, vs wasting the gas and time.... :-)

(though I actually did get in on 1 walmart clearance....out of like 15 I attempted before finally quitting. I got lucky b/c walmart employees had hidden the items behind other models, to purchase after their shift ended, as they're not allowed to shop prior to that. You should have seen the 2 employees following me, and giving me the stink eye as I went on my scavenger hunt. Usually however, they'll find a spot to hide them in the back room, depending on the manager on shift. The latter true in most retail stores, as I actually had a Best Buy manager tell me that probably happened, when I stalked, I mean searched for clearanced "high end" audio components in college)
