A lot of misinformation in this thread, presumably from people trying to convince themselves that paid subscriptions are somehow worth it. I've had this product since day 1 (4 tuner which turned out to be overkill for a family of 3). It's flawless. Of course it will only be as good as the antenna you connect to it (I currently use a leaf50) and most importantly, the placement of the antenna. The beauty is, it doesn't need to sit on a TV, just near power and the placed antenna. If you're invested in the FireTV/Stick infrastructure, you're all set.

I went from getting 6 channels to 54 (because of placement) when I installed this and I pay nothing per month. We can, but don't, watch the DVR from our phones and I do wish the remote recording was a little better fleshed out but I do not regret this purchase at all at the $240 price point.

Anyone in the Fire infrastructure who cut the cord but misses DVR functionality should consider this a "must have".

Plex lifetime pass, ocassionally goes on a good sale, just keep monitoring the forums. Downside is you need to host a server but sounds like you are game for that if you are coming from WMC

Isn't this a relatively common price drop?

Not according to camelcamelcamel. Per their graph, this is only the second time at this price. The price drop is usually to $180, so this is $50 cheaper.

I wish they would make one of these for Roku!

I know Roku has Tablo but it requires a paid subscription to work properly.

I can record with Network HDHomerRun with my 4 tuners on 2x Dual boxes right now on the Fire Stick 4K or FireStick 1080p. I record to laptop with SSD or desktop but the laptop is always on. This deal was $229 yesterday they finally lowered it but I've heard rumors that the device has some issues poping up error codes. I glad the 2x HDHomeRun are still working with the latest fireware updates.

Tried one of these recently and the tuner in it is not very good at pulling channels in. Hook antenna up to TV using same coax and the missing channels on Recast come in perfectly on the TV's tuner with 98% signal strength.

I like the interface, the ability to use fire TV or an app to access the dvr, and the capability to record local channels. But, not getting major local channels was deal breaker for me.

Good info to know. I'll keep on with TIVO OTA then.

Looking to replace my Windows Media Center setup running Windows 7 with 2 Xbox 360's. Due to Windows 7 ending up coming end of support and risk of security issues. I was debating on upgrading to Windows 8 to keep my setup and WMC which has been pretty much flawless. May give this one a try, but really hate the app is limited to Fire devices. I love my Roku Ultra's! Checked HDhome run but they require a $30 subscription to get menu/guide data yearly that makes on going fee discouraging from purchasing it.

Any other recommendation would love to hear it Wink

For me WMC stopped updated the programming guide years ago. Apparently not for everyone. I switched to NextPVR (which works with hdhomerun tuners). I use zap2xml to download the listings from tvguide.com or zap2it.com. It all takes a bit of setup, but at the time it was really my only option. I may look into HDHomeRun or Recast if it starts misbehaving so I don't have to set it all up again on another computer.

Yeah I'm gonna be one to jump on that to.. got a mini server so to speak I tried to setup a open source tv server program and it's just eh. I wanna be able to watch while I'm away using the tv tuner I got in the server now but pretty much either Plex or wmc is the real options. I guess I could install wmc on 10 although kinda iffy
