The 12 months of included service normally costs $10/month or $100/year, making the Ring Video Doorbell Pro effectively $80 - Great deal especially if you already have a Ring Alarm System!

For reference: The Doorbell Pro alone is on sale for $189 on Ring.com

FYI, my understanding is that the 12 months will not extend an existing Protect Plus subscription but simply replace it.

Great otherwise if you were planning on adding Ring Alarm.

Went the Best Buy route a few weeks ago. My old doorbell was hooked up to an intercom system, so I needed the Chime. The Echo Show 5 was thrown in for free, as well, so that was nice for seeing who was at the door when the bell rang.

Otherwise, this would also have been a good deal since we still have to buy the Pro plan since we have a Ring Alarm system too.

Can you just use the subscription plan and not use the doorbell? Or both has to be activated together?

I bought ring door bell 2 from Costco just for subscription plan (already bought pro bundle from BB and Ring 14 piece system from Amazon, 2 piece motion detector from Costco online). Need to activate the bell but need not be connected. I may use it as outside camera on backdoor/garage side later.

When you add device it automatically adds 1 year trail plan to your account (do not know why they call it trial).

This has not happened for me. I had about a month left on current plan, so not sure if that has to do with it. I chatted with customer service and they asked for a screenshot of the order showing the 12-months as part of the product. I provided it and they said it should be applied to my account in 2 to 3 business days. It has been almost 2 weeks and nothing. I will be calling them when I get a chance to see if I can sort this out.

I had a similar problem. After not receiving the 12 months, first calling and confirming, it finally took a call to a Ring specialist in plans (CSR transferred me), who took care of it in a minute. The CSR didn't know what she was doing when I first called. Got it all worked out just fine.

I have seen in other thread — this wont extend but replace your plan. And if you already have a plan running, you need to deactivate that and then add this. My plan is about to expire. Thinking if buying this just for another year of plan. Can use bell as camera for patio or garage

Ring.com has had a story in the news very recently about how these doorbell cameras are easily hacked. Find out from Ring.com if they can fix the vulnerability access point.
