I wonder how anyone gets a good router seeing as how almost all of them have pretty pathetic ratings. This is a highly rated one by experts yet notice all the 1 star reviews on amazon. And when I have used a blue cave in the past if I would DL a file it would not allow me to browse websites or DL a second file until; the first stopped. Other routers didn't give me that problem. And also oddly it would still let me browse websites on other devices wirelessly, just not via ethernet on the device actually DLing to.

Both of mine work well. Have two running as access points in AiMesh mode. Only thorough review I was ever able to find for anyone interested. SnB review was sort of weird.

I am using one too, and it's been stellar. I've posted my opinion in previous threads: If you need more than a basic router, this is the one to get for under $100. The only better value was the T-Mobile router for $40-$50, but those deals are long gone.

Reviews of the 2.4ghz connection dropping scares from buying this for a mesh system. I have too many old and new devices that run on that. Debating whether I should just scrape all the routers and go back to my old trusty linksys.

I have this for a year and after upgrading it to latest firmware i almost lost 2.4 band. connection was intermittent. it would connect but no internet connection..... Finally downgrading firmware made it a bit stable. Not a great experience so far.....

Would this be an upgrade from the Asus OnHub?

I have a similar problem with the latest firmware. Which version you downgraded to? The latest firmware is not usable, constant freeze and red light flashing.

Any forum for this router?

And yes, not flash able to other 3rd party firmware.

Routers tend to get the brunt end of the stick, since it's the one component most people upgrade when they have issues, and expect miracles; where the problem could have been layout, configuration, modem, devices, etc..
As far as your experience goes, you could have some sort of QoS kneecapping your experience, or you're saturating the network with your requests(massive upstream can slow down your download, believe it or not).

At this price point, I'd rather get the Eero

Would not buy again, it has heat issues that cuts wifi out randomly for a couple minutes. Had to add a fan
