Sales tax makes it less of a deal but still not bad with free two day shipping when I get to checkout.

I hate when slick deals automatically generates a novel for the description...

And yes, the QSnatch vulnerability has been patched.

Did an 8GB RAM upgrade and mine is still running strong. Getting updates all the time. It has a lot of built in functionality that I still can't use it all.

What do you mean still can't use it all and secondly, are you playing 4k content with it by chance?

I do have QNAP 453Be at home and love it, however the way they are handling qsnatch leaves a lot to be desired. It would make me think twice before buying another QNAP device.

How does qnap software compare to Synology? I heard it is less desirable

Depends on what you are using it for... My initial impressions of Synology were extremely frustrating.

I have both the 2/4 bay + and the 5 bay Pro and did the memory upgrades and all units have worked great for home streaming bluray, home video, music, pics and have worked fine even for UHD (high quality/bit rate 4K).

Bang for bang I wouldn't go back to Synology after all the frustrations early on. Only complaint is that they aren't noise insulated so if you have noisy drives it doesn't muffle much although I drilled a hole through the wall and put the unit in a crawl space (elevated) as I can reboot and control remotely so no need to physically touch it. Noise issue solved and freed up some space in the media area.

Running 5X10TB in one unit, 4X 10 in another (2 bay) although looking to upgrade the 2 bay to 2X14 this week.

You think you don't need the space until you do shooting in 4K and very high res pics and start burning through the space.

I picked up the 451+ a few weeks ago and upgraded the ram. Right now I am just using it for backups and some file sharing. I picked up some 6TB Ironwolf drives and they are working well.

One note on the RAM is that you have to use pairs that are the same I tried to mix a 4 and an 8 no go.

Looking to see if this is an upgrade from a 469Pro.
Their naming scheme leaves lot to be desired.

ermm what? I think you have that backwards.

Synology is the easy to use one and the more plug n play experience.

Synology = apple and Qnap = android in laymans terms.

I was going to buy one of these a bit ago, but then I read about Qsnatch and at the time, it was not resolved. Qnap has still not given any explanation.

I just picked up a Synology 1819+ after using a QNAP TS-469Pro for many years. I just use for simple raid storage, not for playing media, so take that into account. The Syn was pretty simple to setup and fairly intuitive. Slightly better than Qnap but not enough to sway my decision either way. I do like Syns SHR2 where I can add different sized drives later to expand the raid. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either brand again.
