I have this set and would recommend. They are s great pair of spare hands. Very quick and easy to use with good grip strength. These are better than the Bessey set I purchased at home Depot. I do prefer the Jorgensen brand, recently purchased the 20 dollar set at Lowe's, but as said before, one can't have too many clamps.

I bought 2 last week at $25 each. Fortunately, they accept returns without receipts. I'll return these and buy 3 of them.

Are these much better than the harbor freight clamps? They have a deal on the similar 6" bar clamp for $2.20: https://www.harborfreight.com/6-i...MyJ9%0D%0A

When it says 12"..
does that mean it can hold/clamp an item that is 12" thick?
or does it mean the clamp itself is just 12" long?

The last threat about these (when they were $23) If I remember right they were saying the harber frieght ones have 2 setting.. way loose or over tighten and broken.

As someone who has purchased the HF, Irwin and Craftsman varieties, yes, the name brands are much better. While the HF clamps will do the job to some degree, they're built much cheaper. The 6" size isn't even worth buying it's so weak, and although the 12" are much stronger, I had the release mechanism break on me the first day on one of them.

I think my favorite so far is the Craftsman, with their substantial grips and releases, but they were quite a bit more expensive and don't seem to really be available anymore. The Irwin has never let me down though.

As an aside though, definitely returning my 4pk 6" for 16.99 from previous FP back to Amazon!

These are pretty decent starter clamps, borrowed these from a friend and very satisfied. Not sure how they compare to Jorgensen though?

For the Jorgies out there....Lowe's currently showing the Jorgensen 3700-series 4-pack (2 x 6", 2 x 12") $10 off @ $19.99.

EDIT:
Just saw they also have the Jorgensen 6-pack of 6" (3700 series) clamps marked down to $21.98.

Has been this price for a few weeks.
It hasn't been this price already for weeks. Unless your store marked them down themselves which is very rare.

Thanks for the feedback, I suspected the HF clamps might not be great. Jumping on the Irwin deal then, I have a pergola to build!

I have this set, and have been pretty pleased with them, so I'll go in for 2 more. I will caveat that by saying that I've actually destroyed one of them; it failed during a normal clamping job. That's the risk of buying plastic clamps, regardless of make, and I'm accepting of it, especially since having these clamps has been a boon on more than one occasion.

At this price, you can't go wrong.

Edit to add: when I bought this set, it was September 2017, and at $32, the price was below average, but not the cheapest it had ever been (the lowest was $26 according to Camelx3). By comparison, this price is an absolute steal.
