New to these, debating either this deal with the bulbs or the other with the strips. Will the bulbs work on my current lamps or do I need something special to allow the bulbs to work.

In for 1. I already bought 2x the 4 bulb set from Target a few weeks ago when they were 20% off (15 from app and 5 from RedCard) and then you got the $55 gift card. Ended up being around $123 with taxes when you subtract the gift card, or $30.75 a bulb.

I know the $100 Best Buy deal has popped up a few times now, but this seems like the best yet with the $20 off? $80 for 3 bulbs, a hub, and switch? It came out to be $87 w/tax so $29 per bulb and you get the extra light switch on top of the hub.

Now if there would just be some decent sales on the bulbs that go in can lights, I would be set. I will probably end of selling off all the extra hubs I have to try and recoup some of the costs. I am not really sure why this set has a dimmer switch when the bulbs can be dimmed via voice or your phone? That will most likely be sold as well. Even on sale these bulbs get really expensive, really quick!
These switches are really nice to have. I use it a lot more than I thought I would. They are programmable to do a lot more than just dim the lights.

I have Hue lights throughout the house and the remote switch is very handy, especially if you frequently entertain or need WAF/kid-friendlyness. Guests won't have the Hue app, and sometimes it's hard to remember to shout what you want across the room to Google/Alexa.

What I ended up doing was buying these Samotech SM-213 plate covers [amazon.com]. They screw on over your switch so no permanent modifications. They effectively cover the switch so it always stays up, and then you just use the remote like a switch.

I love the remotes because you can program four-five actions to happen with consecutive taps of the on button. Mine turns on last state, sets the lights to evening/warm white, and has a few fun color profiles built in to the third and fourth taps.
Samotech is too expensive, Still looking for a cheaper alternative.

I've been digging and I can't seem to find the answer. What's the difference between the $100 kit (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/philips-hue-white-color-ambiance-led-starter-kit-multicolor/6370363.p?r... [bestbuy.com] and the $120 kit (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/phil...=6284233). They appear to be the same, but they're different model #s. Everything I'm seeing shows both coming with a dimmer switch (according to the pictures), but the $100 one doesn't list out each item individually so it's hard to tell if it actually comes with one.

Just stop. Come on please really stop. Do you know how much Hue products I have bought in a week. I'm already convincing my wife "what? No, of course those aren't new hue boxes of lights, those are the ones I got last year remember?."

Ok so I've bought 3 (3 light kits), 1 (4 light kit), 3 (light strips), 4 ( 2 play light kits). Got typings this out hurts my soul.

I'm still new to the game, Just got 1 2 pack of bulbs and a bridge. What would I need multiple bridges for?

I live this kind of stuff, but what are people using colored lights for?
My main use is a program on my HTPC called Screenbloom which averages the colors on the screen and sends that info to the single light bulb i stick behind the TV.
I think HUE now has its own software for doing this but Screenbloom worked great.
Plenty of other uses, tell Alexa to turn lights on/off, change colors, dim, set schedules to turn lights on or off.

Is there any special features of the Hue lights compared to other smart bulbs? I've seen some at Costco that are about $20 for 2 bulbs. I have not pulled the trigger on smart bulbs yet because I didn't know if these were worth the cost?

Perfect, thank you for confirming!

For those that don't get why there's confusion: Best Buy's descriptions are stupid since they have identical pictures, but under description one lists the "starter kit" (and then each thing included individually) + the owner manual. The other doesn't list everything out and just lists the starter kit with owner manual. Definitely makes for some confusion, especially since they both were originally the same price but one is now $120 while the other is $100.

Oh I don't have a job M-F days.(sarc)

Or, I can keep looking at my phone at work to surf Amazon, Target, Best Buy in order to research and boss don't care.(sarc)

There are circumstances I DON'T have time to research not that I intellectually can't.

And besides ,1) Some people may already know top off their heads without even research 2) it isn't that difficult to quickly answer anyone whether the price has been actually lower before or not!
That reply was composed during business hours and took longer than the research would have taken.

Just came back from BB and picking this up. Im told by Hue support they are the same thing and they didnt know why BB has different part numbers. They also said all bulbs on the market now are Gen 3 and that the Bridge version 2.1 was the latest. BB customer support was of little help.
Box does show Bluetooth on it, the back of the Bridge has a model number of 3241312018A and in another area below that to the left it shows Hue 2.1
