Please Give Us The Option To Remove The "Just For You" Section At The Top Of The Page

655 118 December 21, 2019 at 10:38 AM
I noticed there is a "Just For You" section recently appearing at the top of the page. It is taking up a great deal of space and it really should be an optional section to display on the frontpage. Please put the option in "Personalize Frontpage" under "Display Preferences" to remove "Just For You" so we can all continue to enjoy using this website without feeling imposed upon.

I third this.
Slickdeals UI is getting shittier day by day. Large grid now has this huge 'just for you' section and small grid has lazy image loading issue where last row images don't load till I scroll down. Who is making such decisions?

Hi all,

Thank you all for your feedback. The "Just for You" row is part of a test, and we'll be introducing options to hide the row soon.

It's terrible. Nearly every deal it's populated with is old news, meaning it's either out of stock, something I'm not interesting in, or something I already bought.

How does SD track someone to offer the "Just for You" deals? By cookie, supercookie, IP, browser fingerprint, etc.?

Slickdeals staff has already stated that they have plans to make the "Just For You" section optional, so I think it's fair game for me to post this. You can kill the "Just For You" section with the following uBlock Origin rule:

This can unfortunately happen to some users seeing this section, it's definitely not our intention to show old FP content that's usually already expired.

We're actively investigating why these select users are receiving unhelpful recommendations, sorry that's happened to you!

@syntaf: Can you also do something about the lazy image loading in small grid on the frontpage? There is another thread about it.

We're using the standard cookie method to anonymously identify "you" for personalization.

For anyone here who feels the same way as OP and might have a moment to share their thoughts:

Does the Just For You widget feel intrusive because of it's design? Or because of some other reason? Honest input is welcome Smilie

We want to show you these personalized deals, but not in a way that intrudes on your frontpage experience. This was just our first test, and we will continue to revisit the design/idea to make sure we're actually providing a benefit and not a detriment to the FP experience.

It's a bit too intrusive and not useful. I would prefer to customize and personalize what deals I want to see on the frontpage myself. Currently, the frontpage is already littered with too many deals unrelated to my interests, and I have noticed lately that SD has tried to squeeze in too many deals on the frontpage. Please give us the options to personalize the frontpage to our liking. I prefer to personalize the frontpage and keep it neat and simple, with only deals I am interested in. Thank you for your time to solicit inputs from SD members hug

Soon Please. It is just a waste of screen space in my opinion.

It is in the way, and the deals it has shown have been poor. For example, Lowes ads that only work for some based on brickseek finding an item in stock on a closeout.

If it was FP I would vote it down.
