Please Give Us The Option To Remove The "Just For You" Section At The Top Of The Page

656 118 December 21, 2019 at 10:38 AM
I noticed there is a "Just For You" section recently appearing at the top of the page. It is taking up a great deal of space and it really should be an optional section to display on the frontpage. Please put the option in "Personalize Frontpage" under "Display Preferences" to remove "Just For You" so we can all continue to enjoy using this website without feeling imposed upon.

Please let us hide this section, it's filled with nothing but expired deals for me

I do not want targeted deals. It's obnoxious and gets in the way. I already don't want those deal ads at the very top, but now there are two rows of things to go past.

for what it's worth you can turn off the featured deals bar in your front page preferences. the settings are on the frontpage, beneath the featured deals bar. in classic click "preferences" and in redesign "personalize front page"

There's a section on front page of Slick Deals that has "Just For You" deals. It shows me deals from 2018 and prior. It's completely USELESS and incredibly misleading. How do I get rid of it?

i merged your thread with the existing thread on the issue so you can follow whatever updates there might be. as noted here they are running a test but plan to introduce an option to turn it off when the test is complete.

Please introduce the option to turn it off soon. It's annoying and it brings up deals that have expired too Stick Out Tongue

Hi Everyone,

First off, thank you all for your feedback. We take all feedback seriously and take it into account when making decisions.

The intent of the test was to help surface great, relevant deals that a lot of times get lost in the vast pool of deals created everyday.

We've turned the test off for now. You should not see the section anymore (it might take some time to update, and you may have to clear your cookies/cache if you continue to see it).

We'll take some time to ensure that only live, non-expired deals appear before reintroducing it. We also plan to include an option to hide it if you feel that deals are not relevant.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you again for all your feedback.

Hi Only1KW,

We're currently testing the row on a small percentage of traffic and continuing to tweak and improve the recommendations for it.

We're also working on introducing a hide option soon and will let you know when it's released.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have any feedback on the row?

When I open Slickdeals, my workflow is to quickly glance at what's new, and if nothing that is new interests me, I close it.
  1. The inclusion of both the Featured Deals and Just For You rows means that I now have to scroll down the page after opening it in order to begin seeing Frontpage Slickdeals, which is the only section on the "main" panel of the homepage I care about. Before, I could start seeing Frontpage Slickdeals as soon as the page loaded. And as long as there was at least one deal on the first row that I'd seen the last time I loaded the page, scrolling was unnecessary, which was nice.
  2. As others have stated, I've probably seen all the Just For You items already and don't want to see them again.
  3. Unlike the Featured Deals row, all the items in the "Just For You" row have a "FOR YOU" orange box in the upper right of the item which, at first glance, looks identical to the "NEW" box on new items in Frontpage Slickdeals. This similarity frustrates me after I spend time thinking about why it seems like I've already seen this "new" item and then read the box to realize that it is in fact not new.
  4. On some computers I use, the "Just For You" row is there, and sometimes it is not, so, unlike the Featured Deals row, I can't even unconsciously browse past it.
On the plus side, I have not noticed the issue where Just For You items are already expired.
