In Store (Only?) Philips Hue HDMI Sync Box - $199

Hey everyone just posting this so people knew, especially those that got the gift card from the Play Light Deal. Price shows $229 online but in store is $199 with pics attached so maybe can get online rep to match the price?

I know it's maybe not the hottest deal and "not worth over $100" etc, but figured let people know.

With my $50 GC was $166.49 w/tax.

It really is the most overpriced item in Hue's lineup and already doesnt work with video formats enthusiasts in this space will want. Theres a 3rd party solution in the works that wont be quite as expensive but is looking to solve some issues this hue box has. Lookup harmonizehue.com

I have it and it is amazing. No issues with streaming from any gaming console, Blu-ray, or Apple TV.

FYI, anybody that cares about home theatre at all should be aware, this does NOT support Dolby Vision. This is the winning format of HDR that Netflix, many 4K Blu-ray's, and Apple TV, many others use. This was a major mistake to be omitted from such a high end device.

An HDMI splitter or a HTR with dual HDMI outs is a work around for no HDR/Dolby. Going to see if I can use my gift cards on this tonight. Thanks op!

HDMI splitter usually suck. Some high end receivers let you display simultaneously but they are usually expensive/ top of the line models and are not guaranteed to be in sync. If you find a good hdmi splitter that does simultaneous 4K 60fps HDR please let me know! Edit maybe this: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rock...Id=5986903.

Running with my PS4 Pro and XBox has been such a killer experience. I was streaming through my laptop and syncing that way and this is just so much faster not to mention less controller lag. Using separate accounts works but messy and took a while to setup. As far as the HDR+/Dolby Vision (I don't really use either of these currently) but I have heard different reports some got it working, some not, maybe check reddit or the $99 play lights thread that's blowing up right now.

No regrets at 166 for my Games!

confirmed but good luck getting aprice match I spoke to 2 supervisors 2 reps and 2 chat reps last evening. they refuse to call a store to verify price stating they can only match what is on bby.com. Went to store at 7 am this morning. grabbed the item the pricetag and headed for the counter. took 3 minutes. and also picked up my hue play kit that was indicating sold out in store and cancelled online order for the 99 price vs 120 and got the 50 gift card. I was hoping to avoid the 40 min trip but had to run to Costco anyways so made a plan and executed it for the 70 back in my pocket off price matches on the hub as well as the 2 play kits. Wished them a Merey Christmas and that was that. I can confirm it is still 199.99 for the hue sync in the store. For what it's worth I offered to take the pricetag back to the area of the store as I had removed it. Pretty good deal on hub I guess for something that never goes on sale. it appears or very seldom at that.

Any idea how long the sync box will stay at $199.99 in store? I keep buying the play bars and have to wait for the one I ordered this morning to ship so I can get the $50 gift card. I'd imagine it probably won't ship until Thursday.

Huh, so you're saying if I plug my nVidia Shield Pro (2019) into this Sync Box, I'd be sacrificing Dolby Vision on my OLED TV for lights that are behind the TV? Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Update: According to MacRumors.com [macrumors.com]:
Quote :
The Hue Sync Play Box supports 4K at 60Hz and HDR 10, but it does not support HDR10+ or Dolby Vision, so if you have a TV that uses HDR10+ or Dolby Vision, this may not be something that you want to invest in. It does support passthrough so you can still watch HDR10+ and Dolby Vision content, but it can't detect them to create the lighting effects.

For this if I have 2 tv and I want to use one set of hue lights with each, do I need 2 hue sync boxes (1 for each tv and set of hue lights?)
