Breville Barista BES870XL Expresso Machine $391.19

I'm reposting this Bed Bath and Beyond deal for the Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine (BES870XL) as the deal previously indicated it was dead. BBB has it for $488.99 but with their 20% discount it comes out to $391.19 plus tax. I had attempted to duplicate this deal previously but was unable to because their website indicated that it was a price match deal and coupons would not apply. Today, I went to their website to purchase the item as a last minute gift and noticed that the website no longer indicated that it was a price match deal and that coupons would not apply. I ordered the BES870XL online and had no problems using the 20% discount found in the Retail Me Not website in store. Hopefully, some of you can also duplicate the deal. If you are told that the coupon is not valid show them the website and also the coupon which does not mention that the Breville is exempted.

It still says "Price Match Promise - Coupons cannot be applied" on the website. Although I really want to get this with a gift card in my wallet, I don't want to drive an hour for potential denials...

Even though the coupon says it won't apply to Breville (and vice versa), BBB's POS historically allows it, per every thread dealing with BBB and this model.

True. It's worth trying if there are BBBs nearby. But I got three denies in a row...

I had also been denied at 3 different stores, but the store I went to today approved it and they had previously denied it.

Repped. Where did you get the coupon? The website was hidden.

It clearly states "Price Match Promise - Coupons cannot be applied" on the website. Did it just get changed?

I got this machine last time and use Peet's MD beans. used both single and double was filter and the espresso NEVER comes out great. Will return the machine.

Grind setting - 4,5 - Under extracted
6,7,8- Average or its comes out bitter.
Always tried - Double shot

Not sure what am I doing wrong.

Also, looked at tons of reviews and people talked about fresh beans. Well, got those one too with Grind setting 4-5. Same results.

Anyone who has this machine can you please help?

TIA

unless the retail price in store lowered to $488, it always needs a manual override the price then apply coupon, so it always depends on the local store management.

I have the same machine.

Start with medium roast espresso. Example: intelligentsia black cat espresso
Is there the right amount of grind? about 15-17gm for double shot
are you tamping with enough pressure? what is the pressure range your shot is getting to? a good tamp, combined with the appropriate grind will get your pressure to the grey "espresso" range. you want most of your shot time to be spent there.
how long does your shot take? should last around 25-30 seconds.
what volume comes out? it should be about 2oz.

oh, and never use tap water or Brita water. need to use bottled/filtered water. water is very important to taste.

what is the pressure range your shot is getting to? a good tamp, combined with the appropriate grind will get your pressure to the grey "espresso" range. - Usually, in between - 11-1 in grey area

how long does your shot take? should last around 25-30 seconds. This sounds about right. It used tobe 10-15 sec but I changed and program it to be in between 25-30 sec.
what volume comes out? it should be about 2oz. -Correct

Still its bitter.

Now, you said water. I should try that tomorrow. I was using Brita filtered water.

Do u use double wall filter or single?

Funny enough my double shot has the same issue but my single works and tastes amazing. I've contacted breville about possibly sending a new double filter.
