The no-brand marker that came with my board lasted about 5X longer than the garbage Expo's I bought on Amazon(sold by).

No doubt. Bought a 4-pack of ultra fine markers. Two stopped working within 48 hours.

Are these better than the Staedtler Lumocolor non-permanent markers?

Looked at this, and ended up getting a 14 color with extra 2 black markers with medium point for $10 with $3 coupon clipped. This set has a magnetic tip to stick to board, and eraser tip.

Been this price for days. Do they suck because the Amazon ones are dried out or fake? Or is the product bad?

Very true. Even Slickdeals links put some garbage on the local browser. My antivirus always warns me about it. I hate to go through slickdeals links now.
